Located on the waterfront and within walking distance of the Cruise ships terminal, this 4 star hotel has 437 rooms and 7 suites and has a no smoking policy. It is part of the Marriott group.Check in was very quick and efficient, just a switch of our credit card for incidentals and a look at our passports. The lobby was on two levels, but there was a lift down for disabled. There were some comfortable armchairs and settees and a concierge, small shop and car rental on the opposite side to reception. Beyond some plants and screens was the Coal Harbour bar - so named as it looked onto the harbour and we enjoyed a meal watching seaplanes taking off and arriving.BedroomOur bedroom ...Read More

Hotel | "More Motel than Inn!"

Quote:
We arrived at the Mount Robson Inn in the Jasper National Park late one afternoon after a long coach journey and check in was very quick. Just as well, as the reception was quite small, although there was a couple of settees that you could sit on whilst waiting and some leaflets about the area. Our luggage was taken straight from the coach and in our room for when we arrived, if you drove you had to deal with your own luggage, as this is really a "motel" rather than a "hotel". We were given a plan on how to find the room, there were 80 different suites and rooms, on two levels, set around a large courtyard which was the parking area and looked very pretty with raised flower tubs. Also in the courtyard...Read More

Hotel | "Bouncy beds in Kamloops"

Quote:
Picture the gold rush in 1860, and later the arrival of the Canadian Pacific railway and you can understand why Kamloops in British Columbia, at the confluence of two branches of the Thompson River became an important city. It has over 92,000 residents and this is increased regularily when the Rocky Mountaineer train rolls into the station. The hotel is just a few minutes from the shops, musuems etc in Downtown Kamloops, and very close to restaurants. The day we arrived in Kamloops, it had been raining and we were glad that the hotel had efficient air conditioning because it was very humid. Check in was very fast as we were given keycards before we left the Rocky Mountaineer train, and our ...Read More

A chateau conjures up all sorts of pictures in my mind and Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise looked stunning on the website, with the Lake right on its doorstep. The history of this hotel is fascinating, starting with a two bedroomed cabin, but far too long for my review, if you want to read all about it the look at http://www.fairmont.com/EN_FA/Property/CLL/AboutUs/HotelHistory.htm because this explains why a Canadian hotel has a Swiss flavour! The hotel was extremely busy with over 1100 guests and we were advised to reserve a table for dinner as soon as possible. We felt we needed a plan of the hotel as it was so large, but we managed to find the Deli and had a snack lunch. Ther...Read More

Hotel | "Not a Mountie in sight!"

Our travel agent reserved a suite for us at the International Hotel in Downtown Calgary for the first night of our Canadian holiday. Opened in 1970, it was only 6km from the airport and reached in about 15 minutes by taxi, but the estimated time on the airport shuttle bus was 1 hour as it stops at several hotels en route. Calgary has a structure of avenues and streets parallel to each other and the hotel is on 4th Avenue Southwest, close to Chinatown and two blocks away from the Light railway for getting around the city.Reception, was bright and comfortable settees and chairs were around the long narrow area. Check in was quick and easy and a credit card was needed for incidental expenses, in no...Read More
