The Hotel Fortina and Fortina Spa Resort is situated at the end of a road looking over the Marsamxett Harbour in Sliema towards Valetta. A view I personally adore, as there is always something happening on the water. When we last stayed there was a lot of building going on,for the Spa Resort and the new tower block will have 150 bedrooms and be 5 Star, the older hotel is still 4 Star, and has 210 rooms.Sliema is a busy and quite an up-market place, lots of Hotels, cafes and shops, and a great place to be in with a ferry across to Valetta running every half hour. There are lots of buses to go all over the island or alternatively just walk along the Strand enjoying the harbour or, climb...Read More

Situated on the outskirts of Qawra separated from the sea by a road, but with a tunnel underneath for easy access. The views from the hotel are lovely as it overlooks St Paul’s Bay and Islands. The promenade is close by with lots of benches. The bus station is a few minutes walk uphill, from the hotel, where you can travel all over the island. Shops, supermarkets, cafes are all within walking distance. There are 375 guest rooms, and 38 superior rooms, the majority have balconies or terraces. There is a Conference centre and Casino built in part of the hotel. The hotel is wheelchair friendly and has two specially adapted rooms for disabled guests.First Impressions**************...Read More

Wandering around the village of Xaghra on Gozo we found a stone windmill and discovered it was open as a Museum, costing only 5€ we decided to have a look around and get away from the heat of the sun. Even better we discovered it was reduced to 3.50€ for senior citizens and that entitled us to access to the Temples which were nearby as well. It is open daily from 9.00 – 5.00pm and only closed at Christmas and New Year and Good Friday. The Ta’ Kola windmill dates back to 1725 when it was decided to build a windmill in Xaghra. It was owned by the Manoel foundation but eventually passed to a family of millers from Mosta in Malta. A family called Grechs ran it until the 1980’s, and they lived...Read More

Gozo is a small island just 25 minutes from Malta on the ferry. The Cornucopia Hotel sounded ideal to us - situated on the outskirts of the pretty Gozitan village of Xaghra, (pronounced Shara) on a high ridge with views over the valley down to the sea at Marsalforn, a small family run hotel away from the busier seaside villages but easy to reach the tourist places. The Cornucopia is a converted farmhouse, and parts date back 300 years in the bar and lounge. Limestone walls and beautiful arched ceilings in the restaurant are typical of Gozo, lighting is subdued and lots of candlelight gives a romantic feeling, making this a popular hotel with young couples looking for a quieter place to holi...Read More
