Attraction | "A little bit of luxury in Glasgow "

Glasgow is an amazing city for shopping there is something for everyone and every budget. For the more commercial high street shops the Buchanan Galleries is pretty hard to beat due to the sheer choice of shops it offers but for something a little bit more sophisticated head down from the Galleries a little way to find Princes Square where the emphasise is more on the luxury side. Princes Square is an indoor shopping mall but what makes it different is that this isn’t a new structure but one that actually dates from the 1800’s and was made into an indoor shopping centre by way of a glass domed roof which made the previous outdoor square more practical for Glasgow’s notoriously unpredictabl...Read More

Glasgow has some of the best shopping in the UK and in my opinion it is the best city for shopping outside of London. The reason I think this is because of the sheer choice on offer in the city. There are all the usual high street brands you would expect alongside all the upmarket international names and lots of interesting little boutiques and independent retailers. With the weather in Scotland being like it is one of the joys of shopping in Glasgow is that a lot of the city centre shopping is in covered malls. The Buchanan Galleries is a large indoor shopping mall in the city centre where you can pretty much be guaranteed to find something to take your fancy. There are over 9...Read More

Restaurant | "Great Brazilian restaurant in Glasgow "

Quote:
We were looking for a restaurant for an early dinner on a Saturday as we had plans for the evening. As we were in Glasgow for a night away we wanted to eat somewhere nice and not just have take-away but most of the decent restaurants we passed were either closed or weren’t serving again until later in the evening. We happened across Viva Brazil and saw people through the window eating so we decided to give it a go. None of us had ever been to a Brazilian restaurant before and didn’t really know what to expect. We could see a buffet type table in the middle of the room where people were helping themselves but we could also see servers walking around seeming to give food to people. ...Read More

The Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) has a fantastic location in the centre of the city in Royal Exchange Square. Surrounded by outside terraces it makes for a really nice trip followed by lunch afterwards. The building is hard to miss as is situated slap bang in the middle of the square. The building housing GoMA dates from the 1700’s and is built in a neoclassical style with Corinthian pillars and is certainly an impressive building. The best thing about visiting GoMA is that it is completely free to go and see the exhibits. I spent an enjoyable hour or so wandering the museum and looking at the art on display. The inside of the museum is as impressive as the outside and ...Read More

Attraction | "Gothic graveyard "

Glasgow Necropolis Photo, Glasgow, Scotland

When I visit places I try to find something unusual to go and see. I do have a bit of a fascination with the macabre so when looking for things to see and do in Glasgow I was immediately drawn towards visiting the city’s Necropolis. It was the name more than anything that drew me in as I knew that Necropolis meant city of the dead in Latin and I envisioned a huge gothic cemetery. Unfortunately when I visited it was nowhere near as dramatic as in my imagination but it still makes for a diverting hour or so and is close enough to the city centre that you don’t have to go too far out of your way to visit it. The Glasgow Necropolis is basically a Victorian cemetery that is located adjacent to ...Read More
