Buchanan Street

Story/Tip

Quote:
When in Glasgow I took the chance to do some clothes shopping as I needed some new summer clothes. My friends and I headed to Buchanan Street in the city centre as this is where the majority of shops are located. There really is something for everyone on Buchanan Street with shops to cater for every budget and style. House of Fraser stands at the bottom of the street and is a good place to have a browse. It is a massive department store that sells mainly designer clothing and has a large perfume and make-up section. There is also a yo-sushi and coffee shop in the store. Further along the street are a selection of high street stores such as new look and topshop as well as more upmarke...Read More

Restaurant | "Great Brazilian restaurant in Glasgow "

Quote:
We were looking for a restaurant for an early dinner on a Saturday as we had plans for the evening. As we were in Glasgow for a night away we wanted to eat somewhere nice and not just have take-away but most of the decent restaurants we passed were either closed or weren’t serving again until later in the evening. We happened across Viva Brazil and saw people through the window eating so we decided to give it a go. None of us had ever been to a Brazilian restaurant before and didn’t really know what to expect. We could see a buffet type table in the middle of the room where people were helping themselves but we could also see servers walking around seeming to give food to people. ...Read More

Glasgow Necropolis

Attraction | "Gothic graveyard "

When I visit places I try to find something unusual to go and see. I do have a bit of a fascination with the macabre so when looking for things to see and do in Glasgow I was immediately drawn towards visiting the city’s Necropolis. It was the name more than anything that drew me in as I knew that Necropolis meant city of the dead in Latin and I envisioned a huge gothic cemetery. Unfortunately when I visited it was nowhere near as dramatic as in my imagination but it still makes for a diverting hour or so and is close enough to the city centre that you don’t have to go too far out of your way to visit it. The Glasgow Necropolis is basically a Victorian cemetery that is located adjacent to ...Read More

Attraction | "A brilliant night out in Glasgow "

A group of friends and I decided to have a night away somewhere just for a change. We ended up deciding to go to Glasgow as it was relatively close only being just over an hour away by train. We booked a hotel and thought we would just arrive and explore the local nightlife. A few days before we left I was browsing the internet and read something about The Stand comedy club which someone was raving about. I’d never actually been to a comedy club but had always been interested in visiting one as I love watching live comedy on the TV so I phoned my friends and asked if they fancied going. They were all up for it so I bought the tickets online there and then. As we were visiting on a Saturday...Read More

Mercure Glasgow City Hotel

Hotel | "A good budget option in Glasgow "

Quote:
When my friends and I visited Glasgow for the night we wanted a cheap but decent central hotel as we would only be there for the night and wouldn’t be spending a lot of time there. We checked around the internet for the best deal and ended up booking the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel. We ended up paying only £60 each for a double room which was very reasonable especially as it was a Saturday night we were staying and most hotels were charging well over £100 for this particular night. We arrived in Glasgow by train and finding the hotel was simple from the directions on the hotel website. It was only a 10 minute walk from the central train station and very close to the main shopping street and...Read More
