Rat Inn

Restaurant | "An Oddly Named Inn, but One of My Favourites!"

Quote:
The Rat Inn was built around 1750 and can be found in the scenic hamlet of Anick, which is approximately 1 mile from the historic market town of Hexham, here in Northumberland. It is easily reached from the A69 which runs from Newcastle to Carlisle, and I have enjoyed a few meals there since my partner introduced me to it a few years ago. After leaving the A69 you drive up a hill to reach The Rat Inn, and because of its location, there are stunning views over Hexham and the Tyne Valley. There is a car park and roadside parking available.A Little History~~~~~~~~~~~Just how the Rat Inn came by what is probably one of the oddest names for an Inn in Britain re...Read More

Premier Inn Newcastle Holystone

Premier Inn Newcastle Holystone Photo, Newcastle upon Tyne, England
Quote:
Premier Inn Holystone in Newcastle is somewhere I have passed frequently as I only live a few miles away from it and therefore I have never had a need to stay there. However, whilst planning a recent evening out which involved a meal at the adjoining restaurant 'The Stonebrook', I discovered that it would only be £19 to book a room at this Premier Inn that evening, which worked out cheaper than travelling home via taxi and so we decided to book a room and make an evening of it.~~ Premier Inn Holystone ~~The hotel is situated a few miles out of the centre of Newcastle on the outskirts of the city. It lies very close to the A19 and Tyne Tunnel and the seaside town of Whitley Bay ...Read More

Quote:
Woodhorn Grange is a bar and restaurant situated inside Queen Elizabeth II Country Park to the north of Ashington in Northumberland. You often find a Brewers Fayre restaurant adjacent to a Premier Inn and here is no different. Although there have always been hotel rooms above this restaurant, it was not actually a Premier Inn until a few years back. We had stayed here on a couple of occasions as well as visiting the restaurant a number of times too, as we live close to the Northumberland coast and countryside, but recently spent our first night here since it became a Premier Inn and also ate in the restaurant. The restaurant is often busy, as the country park is a popular place to visit with...Read More

Premier Inn Ashington

Hotel | "A hotel with beautiful views."

Premier Inn Ashington Photo, Northumberland, England
Quote:
Ashington Premier Inn must surely be one of the most scenic locations Premier Inn have for one of their hotels. Situated in Queen Elizabeth II Country Park on the north edge of Ashington just off the A189 in Northumberland, the hotel overlooks a large 16 hectare lake and scenic park area which used to be the site of one of the biggest colliery spoil heaps in Europe, with the adjacent North Ashington Wood being another. Therefore the country park is a great example of restored industrial land after the closure of the colliery in 1981. Adjacent to the park, just a little further down the road you will find the Woodhorn Colliery museum, where the old colliery buildings stand. The museum is a popular plac...Read More

Located on the Great North Road (A167) at Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, The Gretna Green Hotel is a large family pub restaurant which I have visited a few times over the years. It is located just a couple of minutes drive from the junction with the A1(M) and therefore offers a good alternative to the MacDonalds and Burger King restaurants you will find at service stations in the area, if you are travelling and want to stop off for refreshments. It shares its large car park with the adjacent Newton Aycliffe Premier Inn and therefore is usually a busy place with local and passing trade as well as the guests staying at the hotel. Part of its appeal for families is the fact it includes a Wacky...Read More
