Restaurant | "Great Value at the Eastern Eye"

During my recent trip to London, I caught up with one of my friends over a curry on Brick Lane at the Eastern Eye Balti House. I’ve never been to Brick Lane before but my friend insists that this restaurant is the best in the area – no mean feat considering how many curry houses there are in the area.We went on a Wednesday evening and the place was still nicely full. Not so much that we were uncomfortably cramped or that the service suffered but enough that we didn’t feel like we were on show in a quiet restaurant. I did find that the restaurant was oddly laid out inside because the tables were kind of close together. It is a fairly small space and they have packed the tables in so we did ...Read More

London is a great city that is full of great buildings and sites that will have you walking or hours. There’s nothing like relaxing in a nice park to sooth aching feet and despite what you may think, London has loads of great parks in which you can do just that. Here are my top three - ==Hyde Park==This is one of the biggest of London’s green spaces and it is certainly one of the most popular. It is very centrally located and a wander around it will soon have you forgetting that you are in a major capital city. There is a huge boating lake in the middle where you can hire pedaloes and rowing boats by the hour. To be honest, they are pretty pricey for what they are, but you can ...Read More

London is one of those cities that has numerous famous monuments, buildings and places at every turn of the corner. So many that there is just no point putting your camera away because you need it all the way. Whenever I go to London I usually do a walk that incorporates all of my buildings and monuments and here are my top ten things you must see or visit in the city:1. Buckingham PalaceThe home of Queen Elizabeth II is a must see for any visitor to the city. To be honest I think it is quite an understated building because you just can’t get a feel for the size of the place from the front of it. The walk up to the palace along The Mall though is quite impressive, because it cr...Read More

Attraction | "Shrek on Stage!"

Theatre Royal, Drury Lane Photo, London, England

We recently spent a weekend in London for my birthday and as part of the celebrations we went to see Shrek the Musical. It was absolutely fabulous and I’d recommend it to everyone. I laughed regularly and even when I wasn’t laughing, I had an inane grin fixed on my face! ===Booking===Booking is easy enough – you can do it online, in person or over the phone. I’d obviously recommend booking in advance if you can – particularly for weekend performances or if you don’t want to waste time doing it when you are in London. Having said that, when we went (on a Wednesday at the end of March) the theatre was probably only three quarters full. In fact they decided to close the balcony an...Read More

Hotel | "Comfort and Luxury in London"

My husband and I recently spent a few days in London for my birthday and stayed at the Kingsley by Thistle hotel in Bloomsbury. We got the hotel at a special rate of 50% off in a Thistle sale. Even though it was on a room only basis, I have to say that it turned out to be excellent value for money because the hotel was lovely and in a great location.===Getting There and Location===We arrived at the hotel via a train into Euston Station. We considered a taxi but because it was rush hour we decided to walk instead. That turned out to be a much better option because the hotel is only about a fifteen minute walk from the station. We had a slight mishap with the directions originall...Read More
