If you're in Derbyshire a visit to the historic town of Bakewell is a must. We spent a few days in a B&B in Bakewell and rather than just being the base we'd thought when we booked, we ended up spending most of our time in this pretty little town. Bakewell was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1085 and has one of the oldest surviving markets in the country, as well as a thriving cattle market and, of course, the Bakewell Pudding was first devised here. What I love about this town is the fact that it looks so old and untouched by time; if I had to describe the place in three words they would be picturesque, quaint and traditional.
