Crabby Joe's Tap & Grill Belleville

Restaurant | "Crabby Joe's, not so crabby!"

Quote:
Although Crabby Joe has been in Belleville a long time, we had never dined there before, so decided to give it a try.The evening we visited it was very quiet and we were served very promptly with our drinks. I chose grilled chicken fajitas and my friend had shrimp penne rustica. My friend’s pasta looked very nice, but although she said it was perfectly okay, it was nothing great, perhaps a little bland in flavor. My fajitas were nice with plenty of chicken and the accompaniments of peppers, onions, cheese, lettuce etc. The tortillas were nice too, but I had to ask for more as I was only given two to start with.We decided to try the desserts and I had the chocolate ca...Read More

Prime Time Steakhouse

Restaurant | "I would never recommend this place!"

Quote:
Prime Time Steakhouse is a small restaurant in Belleville. We had never been there so decided to try it out. When we entered we were not greeted at the door, but someone across the restaurant told us to find a table and seat ourselves. Which we did.The first thing I noticed was that the floor felt sticky under my feet and my friend agreed, not a good start. We ordered our meals, my friend ordered steak done medium, but I chose the fish option which I think was a special that day. It took a long while for our food to arrive and although my friend had finished her soda, no replacement was offered by the server. She had to ask for a refill when our meal arrived. As soo...Read More

Hibachi & Buffet

Restaurant | "Good buffet option for Belleville"

Quote:
This restaurant is fairly new to Belleville so we though we would give it a go. The place is very large, with plenty of seating. You are served drinks, but the rest is up to you as it is a buffet. There are several buffet areas with lots of choices. There is of course Chinese options such as rice, noodles, shrimp, chicken in various sauce options etc. There was also vegetables, sushi, salad, fruit, soup and a carvery area where they had turkey, beef and other meats that you carve yourself. The choice was very good and as you can have whatever you want, it gives you the option to try things that you perhaps wouldn't normally in a restaurant. There are also many desserts to choose from such a...Read More

Kalays Seafood Restaurant

Restaurant | "Disappointing meal at this seafood restaurant"

Kalays Seafood Restaurant Photo, Belleville, Ontario
Quote:
My friend and I decided to try this restaurant in Belleville. It is located off the beaten track and if you did not know it was there you would probably not come across it. It is a seafood restaurant. The restaurant is small with around 10-12 tables and is very casual. We were greeted by the server who was very pleasant and given iced water and our menus. The menu had many items most of which of course were fish based, but there were chicken and other dishes. We both chose the same item which was shrimp and sun-dried tomato penne. We then waited, and waited. In fact it was some 40 minutes before we received our meal. We were chatting so it didn't really matter, other than we we...Read More

Restaurant | "Lonestar adds heat to Belleville"

This restaurant opened its doors a few weeks ago in Belleville and we decided to give it a try. We went early on a Tuesday evening and we were welcomed at the door and allocated a booth. A very friendly waitress chatted to us and asked us if it was our first time there. She took our drink order and then returned with some complimentary nachos and dips. The menu was extensive and had things like ribs, steaks, chicken, burgers etc. We decided to have fajitas and could not decide between the various options. The waitress advised us to have a meal for two and choose two different meat options. We did and chose chicken and shrimp. The option of sharing worked out two dollars cheaper each than tw...Read More

East Side Mario's

Restaurant | "Boom budda bing!"

Quote:
We visit this restaurant unite often as it offers good quality food, lots of choice and good service at reasonable prices. This is the only East Side Mario I have eaten at personally although of course they are a chain across the country. It is basically an Italian restaurant so you will find the usual fare such as pizza and pasta of various types. They have lots of different pizza options and you can also build your own. They also come in different sizes depending on how hungry you are.The pasta too comes in lots of varieties or you can build your own pasta dish. All their dishes come with all-you-can-eat salad or soup as well as garlic bread which is a nice touch. They also ha...Read More

Wimpy's Diner

Restaurant | "Don't bother with Wimpy's"

Quote:
When this new restaurant opened in Belleville my friend and I decided to give it a try one morning for breakfast. We did not know what to expect, but thought along the lines of Denny's - we were very wrong. We ordered sausage, bacon, egg and home fries with toast. I had tea and my friend coffee. When the meals arrived we both stared at our plates, not really enjoying what we were looking at. The bacon looked fake and the sausage fatty, but we ate anyway. What a disappointment. The sausages were indeed fatty and the home fries were awful and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. The eggs which were ordered over medium were too well done. Overall a very poor looking and tasting meal. ...Read More

Swiss Chalet

Restaurant | "If you like chicken, you'll love Swiss Chalet"

Quote:
Swiss Chalet is a Canadian food chain offering simple, reasonably prices food. They primarily serve dishes based around chicken and ribs. They are famous for their rotisserie chicken which they serve in quarters and halves. They also offer various chicken dishes such as wraps, salads, pot pies etc. Ribs are another of their offerings in various combinations. I am not really a lover of fries, but I have to say this restaurant serves the best around. They also have other dishes such a fish, sandwiches and stir fry. They usually have lots of different desserts to choose from and often have specials of both mains and desserts, depending on the time of year. Prices here are very rea...Read More

Linguine's Italian Restaurant

Restaurant | "Overrated Italian"

Quote:
Linguine's was recommended to us, so we decided to give it a try. The location is good and there is ample parking both front and rear. Inside the ambiance is nice with upmarket decor and chandeliers etc.The menu is extensive with plenty of choices. The only problem is you choose your meal in bits. By this I mean you choose your pasta - linguine or penne. Then you choose your sauce, of which there are lots. You then choose your add-on which is chicken, shrimp, sausage, meatballs etc. So although each item looks reasonably price, it can build up. So a pasta with sauce and chicken will cost around $21. Other dishes you can choose from include lasagne, chicken marsala amongst others. They als...Read More

Cafe e

Restaurant | "A nice place to have a snack"

Quote:
Cafe e is located in downtown Belleville and offers snacks and beverages. They have many sandwich options some standard and others a little different. They also have lunch specials, soups, salads, cakes and pastries.

Beverages include speciality coffee and tea, soft drinks and smoothies. All prices are very reasonable and most sandwiches come in a option of full or half size. Full sizes are prices around $7.50 and half $4.50.

It is quite a small place, so it can get busy, but worth a visit if you are in the area. Plenty of parking in the adjoiing lot.

Montana's Cookhouse

Restaurant | "Montana in Belleville"

Quote:
Okay so these are a chain and there is one in every Canadian city, but it is a favourite of ours. If we can't think of anywhere else to go we nearly always end up here as we know we will get good service and great food. The menu is extensive and is sure to have something for everyone in your party. Although I have never myself ordered ribs, I hear they are very good. I personally love the baked chicken penne which is served with plenty of chicken pieces and a lovely and tasty rose sauce. Another favourite of mine is the chicken fajitas which come with lots of chicken, cheese, salsa etc. My friend loves the firecracker burger which is hot hot hot. The pulled pork sandwich is als...Read More

China Gate

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "A little bit of China in Belleville"

Quote:
This restaurant is located in the downtown area of Belleville and is well thought of in the area. We decide to give it a try after being recommended by several people. They are open from lunchtime to late evening, but closed on Monday. We visited early evening on a weekday. The restaurant appears very small, but is bigger inside than it first appears. It is quite dark inside but a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive with many options including set menu options, sizzling platters or a la carte. I chose Sizzling Szechuan Chicken which was a stir fry of chicken, vegetables, peppers and spicy sauce. It was very nice. My friend had the set menu for one which...Read More

The Boathouse

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Fish by the lake"

Quote:
We have been to this restaurant a few times and it is always busy. It is located at the harbour in Belleville, so many tables overlook the marina. They also have a large outdoor patio in the summer. If you are lucky enough to have a boat, you can moor it right alongside the restaurant. This is primarily a fish restaurant although they do offer other dishes. The menu is printed on a large sheet of paper with advertising round it, so not your usual menu, but it does have lots of options. You should know that the portions here are large and the fish pieces huge, so bare that in mind when ordering. One things that is nice is you can order a meal with one, two or even three pieces of...Read More

Red Rock Canyon

Restaurant | "Red Rock Canyon Rocks"

Quote:
We had visited this restaurant several years ago, but for some reason had never been back. We decided to correct this recently and visited one evening. The interior looked very much the same as before, so probably hasn't been refurbed for a while, but it was okay. Our server was very pleasant and attentive and didn't mind when we kept sending her away as we were so busy chatting we kept forgetting to look at the menu. Eventually we did choose our food. I had chicken Parmigiana which was $16.99 and my friend chose chicken with vegetable dish but asked to have pasta instead of the offered options of rice or potatoes. This was not a problem but she was charges $1.99 extra bringing ...Read More

Boston Pizza

Restaurant | "Completely addictive"

Quote:
Obviously Boston pizza is a franchise, so loads of them around, however this was my first visit. My friend and I went and were given booth seats by the window. Our server was very helpful and friendly and explained some of the dishes to us. There really is a lot to choose from and I eventually settled for the Jumbalaya Fettuccini which was around $17.The meal was lovely and very tasty. It is labelled as hot, but it is not too bad. The hottest part is the Italian sausage, so if you find it on the hot side, just leave the sausage. When it came to desserts the server bought over a large platter with examples of each dish available. I have never experienced this before a...Read More

Quinte Restaurant

Restaurant | "Diamond in the Rough"

Quinte Restaurant Photo, Belleville, Ontario
Quote:
This restaurant is a little odd looking from the outside and perhaps not one that most people would visit, particularly if not locals. However it is a diamond in the rough.

The menu is extensive with everything including Greek, Italian, Canadian and English and many in-between. I can personally recommend the Italian dishes and my friend loves the Greek. I have been here a few times and never been disappointed. For dessert the deep fried cheesecake takes some beating.

This place is out of the way, shabby looking from the outside, limited tables, but well worth seeking out.

Mariner's Fish & Chips

Restaurant | "Terrible food - never again!"

Quote:
This shop advertises itself as "English Style Fish & Chips Since 1972" and being English but living in Belleville I decided to give it a try.I was a little shocked to be served by an Asian lady. She was very nice, but I thought as they were promoting themselves as English that the owner would be too, but not the case. I ordered cod and chips twice to take away and had to wait about 10 minutes for them to be done. They were given to me in boxes covered in newspaper in a plastic bag, so I did not see the contents before I got home. When I got home my husband and I were looking forward to some good old fashioned English fish & chips, but once we opened the boxes we knew tha...Read More

Tiki Ming

Restaurant | "Tiki Ming - great food, great prices"

Quote:
We often visit Tiki Ming as it is conveniently located inside Quinte Mall food court. You would imagine that as it is not a full restaurant it would be slightly inferior, but you would be very wrong. We find this Chinese to be better than the more upmarket and dearer restaurants in town. They often have specials on, but to be honest their prices are vey good, so a special is a bonus. I especially like their orange chicken and sesame chicken. The noodles they serve are divine and my husband likes the rice. When having two meals of sweet & sour pork with rice and sesame chicken with noodles and a drink each it usually comes to around $12 - bargain. A combination o...Read More
