Attraction | "Must climb tower in Edinburgh "

The Scott monument is one of the first things you will notice when arriving in Edinburgh thanks to its size and its location in the Princes Street gardens. The monument dates back to 1844 and was erected to commemorate the life and times of the Scottish author Sir William Scott. If anything though the monument looks even older thanks to its blackened appearance which is thanks to the type of sandstone that it was built from which is known to attract dirt and blacken quickly. This really adds to its gothic look and even on a sunny day the monument looks imposing and severe. Although the tower is a beautiful monument and you can appreciate it from the outside you should really go up th...Read More

The Witchery by the Castle

Restaurant | "Beautiful food in a stunning location "

The Witchery by the castle is a restaurant and hotel that I have always wanted to visit mainly because I have always loved its name and the feeling it evokes. I was lucky enough to be able to finally visit it with my partner and am pleased to say that it lived up to my expectations. Finding The Witchery is simple as it is located on The Royal Mile near the famous castle and is housed in a stunning medieval building. Inside the hotel is decorated in such a sumptuous and luxurious manner and I look forward to the day when I can actually stay overnight. Unfortunately this time it was only dinner in the restaurant. We had dinner in the main restaurant which was absolutely stunning. It is...Read More

Hotel | "Great value apartments in Edinburgh"

Quote:
I was recently in Edinburgh for the night with two friends meeting up with a couple of other friends who live in the city. As there were three of us we decided to look for a triple room but these seem to be few and far between in Edinburgh and the ones we could find were extremely expensive and we may as well have just booked separate rooms. In the end we decided to forego a hotel and book an apartment after having a look on booking.com. We decided to book ourselves into Richmond Place apartments as it was only coming up as £79 for a superior studio apartment that could sleep four people. As this was a Saturday night in Edinburgh this seemed a real bargain.Richmond Place apartments are par...Read More

While in Edinburgh for a weekend break my partner and i decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Harvey Nichols. Booking the table was a breeze as we just had to go on the website and chose the time and date we wanted to visit. The whole thing took a couple of minutes and was much more preferable than phoning as now I had a receipt just in case they lost our booking. As id never been to Harvey Nichols before we decided on booking a table at the brassiere as i wasn't sure just how formal the restaurant might be and I wanted something a little more casual. On arrival the store was already closed but the entrance to the restaurant is in a separate area and has its very own lift and ...Read More

Hotel | "Lovely hotel in the centre of the Scottish capital"

On a weekend trip to Edinburgh my one requirement in a hotel was that it needed to be close to everything so I was looking at the Newtown area of the city and when I came across the George hotel which is located on george street it sounded ideal. For those unfamiliar with Edinburgh George street is located paralel to Princess street which is the main street in the city and the one that seperates the Old town from the New town. Even better the hotel is located on the end of the street meaning that Waverly train station and the airport bus are just a few short minutes away. When we arrived at the hotel first impressions were excellent as it is housed in a Georgian building which is bot...Read More
