An October 2001 trip
to Atlanta by dglawless
Quote: I combined business with pleasure on this trip and spent my leisure time browsing antique stores in Atlanta. I visited several great restuarunts and some great antique stores. Of course there was one great trip to the Lenox Mall.
The Lenox Mall is also a great place to shop with several stores I love that aren't available where I live. Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. I love shopping at these stores and always find things I can't live without!
Atlanta is an exciting town with lots to do and see. I always enjoy my stays there and this trip was no exception.
I love the Buckhead area. There are many great shops and places to eat. I have a son that lives in that area and he is a good "guide" when I visit there.
Because I went after Sept. 11th I was able to get a very good price, especially on the weekend nights. This is a simple, well kept Radisson Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer a shutle service to places within 3 miles of the Hotel. Since it is located very close to the Lenox Mall this was very handy.
While this is not a luxury Radisson it was very nice and I would recommend it for anybody looking for a moderate place to stay in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.
They do not offer a free shuttle to the airport and the cost of that ride was about $20 on the airport shuttle service. It would be about $35 in a taxi from the airport.

Radisson Inn at Executive Park

They serve breakfast 24 hours a day as well as lunch and dinner. The food was very good and there was an interesting selection. They served the regular diner food: meatloaf, turkey and dressing as well as food with a twist. One evening I had tandori chicken, which was excellent.
The desserts, which are always my personal favorite, were great. All the old diner specialties such as milkshakes, pies, cakes and an old time favorite, rice pudding.
The service was excellent with friendly waiters and fast service without being fast food quality. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were ample.

Restaurant | "Rocky's Pizza"
Rocky’s is a nice little pizza restaurant that specializes in stone-baked pizza. They serve a great pizza with many options. There is a full bar with a wide selection of wine and beer. We had several appetizers at our table and they were really great. The appetizers were really large and could have been a meal by themselves. We had a bread appetizer that was covered with fresh tomatoes, cheese and olive oil. It was really delicious and I ate so much of it that I was not able to eat much of the excellent pizza. Most of the pizza went home with us and made a great breakfast the next day!
The service was great. The atmosphere is quaint and the place is decorated like an Italian pizza house. There is a small bar area and a dinning area with tables and booths. It is small but good and was a fun, relaxing atmosphere to end a day of shopping.

This is a great little Latino restaurant and bar in the morningside community. The owners, operators are a husband and wife from the Dominican Republic. Their daughter is the bartender and makes a great margarita!
I had the special for the evening, which was a grilled chicken dish with a barbecue-type sauce. It was served over a bed of rice with a corn relish mixed in. It was delicious. My son had chicken burritos. They were excellent.
The atmosphere was somewhat whimsical. There were beautiful paintings on the wall that were done by an Atlanta artist. I fell in love with the art and plan to buy a piece from the artist.
The service was great, the atmosphere was fun, the people were friendly, the food was outstanding and the prices were very good.
I really recommend you try this restaurant while you are in Atlanta. Be sure and go early and take a walk up and down the street to visit the many great shops around the Café.
