The WaterfrontBatterseaI bought a few vouchers from 'Wowcher for using at this restaurant/pub in Battersea. It was handy as it is walkable from my daughter's flat.I booked a table for six and the vouchers entitled us to a main meal and a glass of Proseco each. We arrived a bit early and decided to have a drink so my husband went to the bar and bought a round. He nearly died when they told him how much it was for two glasses of wine and two pints of beer. The wine was £7.50 a glass. I can buy two bottles of wine from the supermarket for that or at least one good bottle . We realise there is a mark up but surely that is a lot. The beer was not quite so bad, just...Read More

Afternoon tea at the Royal Trafalgar HotelOnce again this was a discount deal I bought and this one was through Wowcher or one of the many deal sites. I bought this as my daughter lives in London and we like to do something with her and her partner when we go down. I paid £19 for two for a champagne afternoon tea in this hotel near Trafalgar Square. Now the usual price for this is £60 which is stupidly expensive in my view but at £19 per couple I felt it was good value.THE DEAL"Highlights• Enjoy an afternoon tea for two, with:• A glass of bubbly each.• A selection of sandwiches, including smoked salmon and cucumber.• Fruit scones with cream and jam.• A s...Read More

New Year’s Day Parade – London 2013 27th ParadeI cannot believe that prior to going to this parade I have never heard of it. It has very little publicity and is actually pretty low key despite the fact that people come from all over the world to take part in it. Even more stunning is the fact that the London New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP) has around 10,000 performers, hundreds of thousands of spectators on the streets and a live television audience of tens of millions. I have obviously been far too busy on other New Year’s Days to watch it!The first Parade took place on 1st January 1987 and now over 25 years later, the LNYDP is the biggest of its kind in the world. It is sai...Read More

It has several small areas where a number of tables are so you are not in one large room...Read More

RADHA KRISHNA BEVAN – TOOTING, SOUTH LONDONWe had been to see ‘Rock of Ages’ at the theatre and my daughter had wanted us to go to somewhere in the city to eat but in typical London fashion everywhere was packed and the place she wanted to take us to didn’t take bookings. We walked for miles and eventually decided to go back to Tooting as there was more choice of curry restaurants and it was on the way back to Wandsworth where my daughter lives. We arrived in tooting and once again wandered up and down. We were looking for a place that looked a bit better than a takeaway and also somewhere that was licensed as we wanted a drink as well as a meal.My daughter and frie...Read More

NabrasaANOTHER GROUPON DEALI bought this deal for the Brazilian BBQ through Groupon and I think it was £14.60. a person. I chose this as it was quite close to where my daughter lives and we had really enjoyed the Brazilian BBQs we had had in Rio de Janeiro and was rather hoping it would be something like that experience. Our deal included a cocktail, the BBQ and dessert for the £14.60 price. This is what attracted me to the deal. It was an authentic Brizilian BBQ specialising in rodizio grills and it is near Earlsfield station so handy to get to from Wandsworth. They advertise that there is live music on some nights and indeed there was a young man singing and playi...Read More

I had managed to get a great deal through the site www.groupon.com and we were very excited about visiting this posh Japanese restaurant at the foot of the famous London landmark known as ‘The Gerkin’.My daughter, Emma and left the Ciao meet and took the bus in the direction of ‘The Gerkin’ and as we walked the last part of the journey I was quite amazed to see the streets completely empty, it was as if the area had been hit by some disaster and wiped out all the population. My daughter explained ...Read More

We booked this visit on lastminute.com. and paid £17 for me and a concession was £15. Just be aware though if you buy your ticket on line or through an agent then you can only use the ticket once. If you buy it from the ticket office at Buckingham Palace you can convert it into an annual ticket at no extra charge and use it all that season. They don’t tell you that on line and we only discovered this when we got to the ticket office at Buckingham Palace. All that we got from lastminute.com was a voucher which had to be taken to the ticket office and changed into a proper ticket with 2 cannot be converted into an annual pass" stamped on it. The official opening hours are 27 July - 1 October 2010...Read More

My daughter lives in London and so when we are planning a visit I keep my eye out for deals on Groupon or kgb for things we can do when we are down there. This offer came up for a session in the Salt Cave and I thought it would be an interesting experience and so I bought four deals for us to visit this place and see if it helped us with our allergy problems. I paid £10 each for us to have an hour's session but when I actually looked up the place I discovered that you get your first session free but I think you have to sign up for a few to get that so maybe it was not a bad deal. WHY A SALT CAVE? Firstly I love trying new things and I do suffer from asthma, hayfever and strange...Read More
