Dinner in China is always in a typical atmospere (music-karaoke) presented in different steps on a turning plate. There is indeed a different taste between the North & South - from spicey to sweet food. From food in luxery hotels to local markets.

Beijing food has enjoyed an age-old reputation-based on imperial court and Shandong cuisine. The main methods of cooking are deep-frying, sautéing, stir-frying and roasting.Once in Beijing, an opportunity to sample its celebrated "Peking Duck"

This dish is knowned for its scented crispy skin and is served with pancakes, spread with hoisin sauce and garnished with spring onions. All the ingredients are rolled into a tube and it is a delightful blnd oftaste and texture.

Tang Dynasty
Theme of the Show is "The Tang Dynasty" It's a kind of Ballet/Musical performed by several artists. Clothing-music and dances are unique. Everything is scened on a stage in the middle of a restaurant.

Forbidden City
"Bejing", capital of China is a city full of mystery and culture.

Highlights: "The Great Wall" - "Forbidden City" - "The Secret Gardens".

I had my first contact with local Chinese people and it left the impression that the land is not completly free of the Communist Regime.

This impression will change if you travel to the South.

Story/Tip

The ferry to the Islands
Hong Kong - actually part of China - is the financial key of Asia. You can visit different small islands.(Kowloon-Lantau-Macao) In fact, it will remain a western transit area to visit Asia. Not only for tourist but certainly for the business.Import taxes are rather low and via a chinese "partnership" it is possible to trade western goods.

The Harbour activities are worthwhile to visit. Rent a boat and do a tour.(Aberdeen area. You will notice many boat living people (a lot of fugitives)doing their daily job.Highlights are several floating restaurants you have to visit early evening. Victoria peak (554m)is also a topic.Use the "Peak tram" to go up and you will enjoy a unique panoramic vieuw over HK.

ShanghaiBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Shanghai by Night
Shanghai became the status of "world city" thanks to the exploration of western industrials and local Chinese merchants. The most attractive place for a tourist is the old part of the city. You will find the most famous "Huxinthng Teahouse" in the middle of a lake and many fountains. It is also the heart of commerce and typical restaurants.

You will meet also the old fashion of buildings - now object of urban renewal. Anyhow if you visit China - this City is a must. Please visit the night markets - social life in China - in Asia überhaupt is during the nights.
