Historic Williamsburg

An August 2000 trip to Williamsburg by louise1928

My 2nd visit, and my husbands first visit to Historical Williamsburg. Other than the weather being incredibly hot (but we were in the south), the trip was great!

Personally, I did not like colonial Williamsburg at all, it was rather boring, but I did like Jamestown Plantation...That was very interesting and worth another visit.

We also visited Busch Gardens, which my husband enjoyed very much...I was more interested in exploring the park, shopping, and eating, I do not care for rides that much.

Quick Tips:

We traveled without children, however, I suggest those with kids, to visit the historical sites in the early mornings, when the crowds are thinner.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving is probably the best way to get around, however, depending on where you are staying, walking can be very fun too.

The accomodations were very nice...colonial style furnishings, well equipped kitchen, whirlpool bathtub, washer and dryer...

They also have spacious guest rooms, if you do not want or need the villas. The price shown is based on rack rates, however, you can get supersaver rates, for about 20% below the rack rate. It''s well worth the cost. But for a family it may not be within your budget...

Very upbeat casual dining atmosphere...The weekends come alive with Blues and Jazz. They have some of the best buffalo wings I've tasted so far...The portions of food are plentiful...If you are looking for a place to hang out with friends, have a good meal, and listen to good music, this is the place!
