We headed out of Moab and drove up into the park...the plan was to hike up to Delicate Arch in the cooler morning and before most of the crowds. The scenery as we drove into the park was amazing...we started to try and spot arches...and one or two could be seen from the road.We parked in the lot for the trail up to Delicate Arch...there are vault toilets here. Note the warning signs to take water with you. The first section of the path is gravel with some slopes. Then you have a long climb on rock...the first part is steep and tough going but once you get that you are past the worst. The path is marked with little mini cairns of stones placed and are easy to see from one to the next. The l...Read More

Hole N The Rock

Attraction | "SO much stuff"

This is a short drive out of Moab...we stopped at the small park just around the corner for a late picnic lunch as we were heading to our next base...but on the cliff side above us was the big painted sign for the Hole 'N the Rock...which took some of my lots interest and so convinced us to stop and see it. It is right on Highway 191, so no detour is needed.Personally I hated it but some loved it. It does have a really interesting story - Albert and Gladys Christensen were the creators of the place...they took a small cave and excavated it out to create a very unique home. They even had a small diner in it at one stage. But there are also three shops on site and a petting zoo an...Read More

We were told to be there at 6.30...we were a little early and were first there...no problem finding a parking space in the huge parking lot. This place is a few miles out of Moab...its just off the road but downhill so you can't really see the place from the road though its fairly well signposted. So we head down and there are a few buildings in an L-shape creating this open space which is then used for the gun fight. There is a small gift shop...but even us girls who have no problem pottering around shops for a good while, discovered there was about 5minutes amusement in it, and nothing we were in a rush to buy. Next to the gift shop is the 'saloon' serving beer and soft drinks...now sin...Read More

Super 8 Moab

Hotel | "standard motel"

Moab has a lot of motels along the main road running through it...some closer to the centre of town than others...the Super 8 is a good distance from the centre...too far to walk in for some nightlife. Its located on the road, with a large carpark in front of it.We arrived and checked in...there was a great variety in the rooms we got...I got one with a king bed, a sofa and a full kitchen. I wasn't so keen on the patio door however, but that's a girl in a room on her own talking. The kitchen came in useful when I decided to do some laundry, and it was easy to hand wash stuff in the double sink and the cupboard handles were ideal to tie my travel washing line to. But the room had no iron o...Read More

Sunset Grill

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Perfectly named...but not perfect"

Quote:
Sunset Grill is aptly named, it provides a perfect view over Moab and is a good place to watch the sunset from the patio and even from inside. Its view comes from it location high above the town. It was formerly the home of a man who had played a major part in the uranium that was found in the area surrounding Moab, and he wanted a mountain home with amazing views. Its entrance is off the main road through Moab...then a steep, narrow laneway up the hillside. And the drive isn't in the best condition...and coming down in the dark you'd need to be wide awake and paying attention. Even the car park at the rear of the restaurant is not well lit either. We arrived having m...Read More
