OutRageous Cabaret Bar

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction | "The funnest night out in Carlisle "

Quote:
Outrageous Cabaret Bar has quickly become one of the most popular places to go for a night out in Carlisle and for good reason. It is located in the town centre of Carlisle and is really easy to find and is only a stone’s throw away from Botchergate where the majority of the city’s bars and clubs are located. Outrageous offers something different for Carlisle with a mix of music and live acts. The inside of the bar is quite small but they have managed to pack in a stage (albeit a small one) dance floor and seating area. From the outside you can get an idea of what sort of place that outrageous is with the sign being made to resemble a burst of flowers. Inside the décor is...Read More

Woodrow Wilson

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "The perfect place for a cheap meal or quiet drink "

Quote:
Woodrow Wilsons in Carlisle is the place to go if you want to be able to talk whilst having a drink as there is no music played here ever. It is owned by JD Wetherspoons and is styled to resemble a traditional English pub. Inside it is large with a huge open plan room and then another seating area up a short flight of stairs and outside there is a large terrace with patio heaters for the smokers on cold nights. Woodrow Wilsons is open from morning until late at night and being part of the JD Wetherspoons group it serves an extensive food menu. In the morning you can go for a cooked breakfast and throughout the day and night the food menu is available serving everything from cheesebur...Read More

Unit Bar

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction | "pre clubbing cocktails "

Quote:
Unit Bar is where the young and trendy of Carlisle go for a drink. It is located on Botchergate which is home to the majority of the cities bars and clubs and is probably the trendiest one of them all. The bar itself is quite small inside and only has enough seating for about 30 people but it is packed with at least triple this number on the weekends with people jostling for a space on the dance floor. The reason for its popularity is that it is one of the only true funky cocktail bars in the city. The seating is all leather and the décor is ultra-modern with flatscreen TV’s on the walls playing music video clips. The dance floor is tiny but no one comes here to dance anyway an...Read More

Gallo Rosso

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Sophisticated Italian restaurant "

Quote:
For a small city Carlisle has quite a few good restaurants but my favourite one has to be Gallo Rosso. Although it describes itself as an Italian resaurant Gallo Rosso is a little more sophisticated than the usual Italian restaurants I go to and there is no pizza to be found on the menu here. For a special meal Gallo Rosso for me can't be beat.To get to the restaurant you will either need to drive or else ge a taxi as it is located slightly outside of the actual city. There is a huge car park with more than enough room for your car even if the restaurant is filled to capacity. The building itself is large and detached and is quite impossing and impressive. Whe...Read More

The Sportsman Inn

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Traditional English pub right in the city centre "

Quote:
The Sportsman Inn in Carlisle is the only traditional English Inn serving food in Carlisle city centre. The Inn is housed in a medieval building and can be found by taking the lane next to the Marks and Spencer in the city centre. The first impressions of the Sportsman is really good as the building certainly looks the part and its located next to a large old church is perfect. Inside the Sportsman is what I would call cosy. As the building is so old it has exposed beams and small windows. The seating arrangement is made up of the best they can given the space constraints and there are a surprisingly large amount of tables and benches inside. The décor inside is very tradition...Read More
