Often, when one looks for simple entertainment rather than glamorous night outs, options are rather limited. However, Caribbean Cinemas in Antigua, offers a bit of both worlds. Locals in Antigua tend to take 'movie night' to a whole different level, and this seems to be the common concept through out the southern Caribbean islands.Caribbean Cinemas is a very recent addition to the entertainment scene in small nation of Antigua. It's a rather big enterprise with many complexes scattered about the Caribbean archipelago on islands such as Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Trinidad. However, the cinema only opened it's doors here in late 2010. It's arrival was highly awaited, and welcomed ...Read More

If you're lucky enough to be staying in the English Harbour area during your stay in Antigua, then it will require lots of hard work to stay bored for long. English Harbour at this time, is the most happening place on the island due to the fact that the annual Sailing Week is about to begin. Hundreds to thousands of sailors and other crew members of yachts are literally teeming in the village and we all know that sailors know how to party! A few weeks ago, I met a new friend via the travel network of Couchsurfing. We were both on the island and decided to meet up, and we became quite the best of friends. Last weekend, she called to invite me to a party at one of the bars in English Harbou...Read More

This is Antigua's only helicopter company, and from my experience, they were pretty awesome! I had never been on a chopper before, but I was very excited, as I work in the aviation industry. The trip which would take me to see the volcano, Soufriere Hills in Montserrat, was a birthday gift and the management and staff of Caribbean Helicopters ensured that my special day was special indeed.I was scheduled to arrive at their office, located in Jolly Harbour at 9:15am, 45 minutes prior to departure. When I showed up right on time, there were two other persons who were to be my companions on the journey. Introductions were made, and it turns out that they were a married couple who were visitin...Read More

Devil's Bridge

Attraction | "A Watery Hell?"

Devil's Bridge is an geological wonder on the north eastern coast of Antigua. The bridge is actually a rock arch, which only the brave or suicidal individual would dare to cross. Beneath this bridge, the sea churns large angry waves, deterring even the least faint hearted. The area is purely made of eroded rock, mostly due to the constant sprays of water which splash across the surface from a large blow hole. The area is really popular with visitors, and most of the island tours available have a stop scheduled there. On a sunny day, the views are absolutely stunning. The blow hole is a main attraction especially when the waves are rough, but the bridge is quite a sight to see. A friend of ...Read More

Attraction | "Antigua's Fig Tree Drive"

Fig Tree Drive Photo, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
Quote:
Fig Tree Drive refers to a winding road in the countryside of Antigua, between the center and the southern coast of the island. It runs through what is known as the Antigua Rainforest and makes for a very relaxing and calming journey, as rarely anything can soothe frazzled nerves such as an abundance of clean, fresh air.The road is paved, however there are patches ranging from being slightly uneven to even rough, due to the frequency of tropical storms passing through the island. The heavy torrential rainfall tends to erode the asphalt, forming several 'pot holes'. These small holes in the roads actually seem to be quite widespread throughout the Caribbean as a whole, so be prepared....Read More
