St. James Hotel

Hotel | "Central and cheap"

Even though I come from Grimsby, I have also stayed in one of the hotels there. In the town centre is the St. James which is the biggest hotel in the centre of Grimsby. Other large hotels are available on the outskirts of town but nothing as close to the shops and pubs. The St. James has 125 rooms, all of which have en-suite, free Wi-Fi and tea/ coffee making facilities. Each room also has a TV. Available are single, double and twin rooms. During my stay, I chose a double room as I was there with my boyfriend at the time. The room was quite large and spacious although the décor was pretty dated. As well as the double bed in the main room, there was also a desk which the TV sat on, an arm c...Read More

Hotel | "Not worth the money!"

When staying in London, I hate to pay a lot for a hotel but I also like to be as central as possible. I know this doesn’t sound very do-able but I end up searching for hours until I find something that I think will be ok. I was meeting a Canadian friend and her French friend in London for a weekend so I didn’t want to get lost finding a hotel and as they were getting there a few hours after me, I also didn’t want to drag luggage around for ages so I decided to look in the Kings Cross area. I had never stayed there before so I had no idea where would be good and where wouldn’t. I ended up choosing the European Hotel for us all as it was by far the cheapest at the time. The hotel is less tha...Read More

Hotel | "Cheap place to stay in Norwich"

Quote:
When looking at where to stay in Norwich for a weekend with my boyfriend, I had no real idea of where to stay. Luckily, our friend who lives in Cromer told me about MJB apartments which she had used before and they were a hell of a lot cheaper than any hotel I could find. There are quite a few different apartments from MJB around Norwich and the one we stayed at was 95D Upper St Giles Street. The apartment we stayed in had 2 double bedrooms and cost £35 in total per night booking through laterooms.com. 95D is situated only a 5 minute walk from the market place in the city centre or a 20 minute walk from the train station. The apartment is easy enough to find if you know Norwich quite well ...Read More

Ibis Leeds Centre

Hotel | "A good city centre hotel"

Since having my own blog, I have really wanted to go to book signings. My now co-blogger, Vicki and I decided to try to find something that we could both get to relatively easily and to stay the night before the signing. When looking at what was going on in December, we found that L.A. Weatherly was signing her book in Leeds, which we had both reviewed, so this is the event we decided on. Looking at hotels wasn't an easy task though as neither of us knew the area and we didn't know what the best prices were. The hotel that we finally settled on was the Ibis Leeds, due to location and price. Prices start from £39 per night, depending on when you want to stay. Our twin room cost £55 for the night, so £2...Read More

Me and my dad took a trip to Canada back in 06 and wanted to spend the day before in London before flying. Through our travel agent, they booked us this hotel. At only £37.50 pppn i found it amazing value. I’ve done a bit of research into prices and I found this hotel at £139 a night!! I think i got myself a bargain. Normally when staying in London, I’ve stayed at some pretty awful places for the same price, but they have been in the city centre. This has got to be one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. This hotel is only 30 minutes from Heathrow Airport. Although we did get a little lost trying to find the entrance from the train station, we did come across a strip of clubs on the othe...Read More
