Attraction | "One of the must-see and do casinos"

It was a girls' day trip that had been planned for over a month. My mother was celebrating her birthday by attending the Harry Connick, Jr. concert, and my great-aunt and I decided to try our luck at the slot machines. It was my first time at this casino, which is an enormous white building with valet and self-parking garages. The second floor, I believe, is the main casino floor that has bright lights, the iconic sounds of hitting the jackpot, and people shouting their joy at winning a small fortune. To the left of the room is the Studios A and B where the performances are held, and where guests can find the Asian-inspired restaurant, Tien. Tien is a really interesting place that had a rocky...Read More

Beau Rivage Hotel Resort and Casino

Hotel | "Easter at the Beau Rivage"

Beau Rivage Hotel Resort and Casino Photo, Biloxi, Mississippi
Quote:
The Beau Rivage is the most prettiest to see during spring, particularly on Easter. The hotel and resort have several gardens where landscapers make bunnies from flowers and shrubs, and add a variety of baskets and oversized easter eggs. My family and I went to have lunch at the Buffet, which was about twenty-two or twenty-three per person, and they charge children five and up as adults for this special day. The Buffet has the best dessert selection, and other specialty foods. What we also love about the Beau Rivage is the plentiful shopping boutiques like the Emporium, Everything's $10 Boutique, and many other shops. Next, there's the Arcade that opens from 10am-9pm on Sunday through Thursdays, a...Read More

Edgewater Mall

Attraction | "Best Beach-side Mall"

Edgewater Mall Photo, Biloxi, Mississippi
Quote:
The Edgewater Mall has the best views both inside and out. Located across from the beach, this mall has several shops, a Books A Million, and rides for the kiddies. Other shops include a Sears, JC Penny's, Claire's, Hot Topic, and other clothing stores. The stores also open up early on Black Friday, and particularly JC Penny's gives out Mickey Mouse water globes to its first hundred or thousand customers. Attached to the mall are several restaurants like the Bone Fish Grill (near Books-A-Million).

Picayune Street Fair

Attraction | "Spring Street Fair - Fun for the Whole Family"

Picayune Street Fair Photo, Picayune, Mississippi
Quote:
Closer to Louisiana, Picayune is known as the "precious coin in the purse of the south". This small, southern charming town was hosting its Spring Street Fair this weekend, and will hold another in November. With over 300 arts, crafts, antiques, and food vendors, there is much for the whole family to do. Children's activities include a four person euro-bungee (where you get to bounce on a small space walk), a choo choo train that costs $3 for a ride, a rockwall, pony rides, inflatables, meet Spongebob Squarepants and the Easter Bunny, and ride a mechanical bull. Booths vary in their treasures to t-shirts, shoes, and produce. Parking is a bit challenging since it is a small town, and t...Read More

Galiano's Antiques and Collectibles

Attraction | "Antique Shop on Main Street "

Galiano's Antiques and Collectibles Photo, Picayune, Mississippi
Quote:
Galiano's Antiques and Collectibles is nestled in the heart of old town, and also in the middle of the Spring and Fall Street Fair in Picayune. This shop has many small rooms that have any treasure to celebrate for any occassion. Baby clothes, wedding items, furniture, books, jewelry, lamps, and so much more. There's even another room that has floral arrangements, glass figurines, and paintings. Most of the artwork here is a mixture of French Quarter and downtown Picayune scenes. This is one of the antiquated shops that usually has a "Fair" special on their merchandise. However, what makes Galiano's stand out this year is the "Darn It" Doll. The "Darn It" Doll is a black voodoo doll with th...Read More

The Farmer's Market

Attraction | "Locally-grown produce market"

The Farmer's Market Photo, Picayune, Mississippi
Quote:
On the outskirts of the Street Fair is the Farmer's Market, a small green and white store that sells produce, olives, fig preserves, and other "small, market-like items". What my grandmother loves the most about this market is the juicy red tomatoes, and has been a regular customer for years. Another great tip is the free parking on the street that crosses Canal. If you don't want to get caught in fair traffic but crave your tomatoes, the parking might be an option for you here. Although the produce is locally grown, this is the only market that sells milk from New Jersey. In addition, there is also a senior citizen discount on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The hours are Monday through Friday fro...Read More

Country Shabby Chic Gifts and More

Attraction | "Gift Shop and Tea Spot"

Country Shabby Chic Gifts and More Photo, Picayune, Mississippi
Quote:

The Country Shabby Chic is a small boutique closer to the Farmer's Market and where the Spring Street Fair had its food court. The antique shop had many gifts for engagements, weddings, baby shower gifts, and so much more. Their shop was air-conditioned, and had a small fountain in the entrance. I think the fountain had fish inside it, but I didn't pay too close attention. Wreaths, jewelry, and other antiquated items were placed throughout the shop, and led all the way until a white trellis that had the "Tea Spot", a small nook in the building where a person could have tea at.

Betty K's

Restaurant | "Budget-Friendly Restaurant "

Quote:
At the other end of Canal Street, there was this little shop with a rainbow umbrella that was recommended as a great place to eat. The inside is just like one of those old time diners you would see in like the 50's, and has a small seating area. There's no official parking lot, however, free parking is available on the street. They serve traditional American foods like hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken salads, nachos, and so much more. For dessert, there's also icre cream. Meals and dessert is about less than ten dollars a person, and some meals cost like three or four dollars. Open Monday through Saturday, this is not to be missed by budget-friendly travelers. ...Read More
