Newcastle is one of my favourite cities for a weekend away as for me it has everything that I am looking for in city break that is close enough to where I live to be able to drive there in a couple of hours. The shopping is fantastic and the nightlife is quite rightly regarded as some of the best in Europe. Although I go there a few times a year normally I stay in a 'budget' hotel but on occassion I book myself into the Grey Street hotel which has to be one of my all time favourite hotels in the UK. The Grey Street hotel is located in the centre of Newcastle on funnily enough Grey Street. It is only a short walk from Central station and perfectly situated for the bars and clubs...Read More

Jurys Inn Newcastle

Hotel | "Good hotel for party people "

I go to Newcastle quite often for nights out as the nightlife where I live is pretty dismal and Newcastle is only an hour away. When going there my friends and I have in the past ordered a mini bus to take us home but I personally prefer to just book a hotel for the night and as Newcastle has a vast selection of hotels at reasonable prices finding a cheap room is never a problem. On a night out last year my friends and I booked some rooms at the Jurys Inn as we were told the location was great for both the ciy centre and for going out. When we arrived in Newcastle at the central station we took our printed out direction and went looking for the hotel. We just walked as on the map the...Read More

The Living Room

Quote:
The Living Room in Newcastle is an uber stylish restaurant and piano bar that is adjacent to my favourite hotel in the city The Grey Streey hotel and I always try to have a meal here when I am staying in the city. If you are a guest of the hotel you can usually request a table and get one no problems without a booking but if you aren't staying at the hotel then it is usually a good idea to make a reservation as the estaurant can get very busy especially at weekends. It is located on Grey Street in the city centre near all the best bars and clubs of the city. It has it's own entrance but guests staying at the hotel are able to get to the restaurant without leaving the hotel as it has ...Read More

The Gate in Newcastle is a leisure and entertainment complex in Newcastle and the perfect place to go visit when looking for somewhere to have lunch or a drink. Located near Eldon Square shopping centre The Gate is a large glass complex that houses nearly 20 different bars and restaurants all under one roof so it is possible to eat drink and be merry without ever having to brave the brisk Newcastle weather outside. Inside you can find famous chain restaurants such as Nando's and TGI fridays and most of the restaurants in The Gate allow you to visit at anytime to eat without a reservation so it is perfect for those times when you decide last minute you want a table. St. Nicholas Cathedral

Attraction | "Small but lovely cathedral"

Quote:
With Newcastle so popular for shopping and it's famous nightife it is sometimes easy to forget that the city does offer some cultural sights as well. There are some amazing museums and also some of the most beautiful achitecture in the north of England. One of my personal favourite buildings in Newcastle has to be St Nicholas Cathedral. Now I am not religious at all but I love the history and feeling of serentiy that old churches and cathedrals give and St Nicholas has this in abundunce. Located near to the city centre there has been a religious building located on the spot where the cathedral now stands since 1091 but the cathedal as it now stands was built in 1359 after the origina...Read More
