Fujairah:What shall we do on our day in Fujairah? We had a day in Fujairah and decided that the best way to see the main attractions was to do a tour. There were other activities on offer through the ship such as Wadi bashing (basically driving in a 4x4 up a wadi or dry river bed) or snorkeling but we were not convinced that there was lot to se so we opted for the cultural alternative looking at the main sights that Fujairah offered.A mud Fort you can’t go in:We left from the port at 10am on a coach and made our way to the first stop which was Fujairah Fort. This mud brick fort was constructed originally in the late 1600s and is said to be the UAE’s oldest fort. It h...Read More

This is the second part of my Brilliance of the Sea review:There were a number of bars and cafes around the ship but as drinks were not cheap we avoided visiting these too often. The drink of the day was $6.95 US and beer just under a pint was about $6US. All prices on the boat were in US$ so required you to do a little maths every time you ordered something. Bars on board were Hollywood Odyssey Nightclub,The Pit Stop,Schooner Bar,Champagne Bar,The Colony Club,Jakarta Lounge and Singapore Sling's. We tested a few but by no means all of these! The spa offered a wide variety of treats from hair was, cut and dries to massages, facials and also teeth whitening was offered and ...Read More

Brilliance of the SeasWe spent seven nights and eight days cruising on the Royal Caribbean ship, ’The Brilliance of the Seas’. We boarded the ship in Dubai and then visited Fujairah, Muscat in Oman, Abu Dhabi and then returned to Dubai. This was our first cruise and we chose this as it was short so if we hated it we would not ha eto suffer too long and secondly because we really wanted to explore the area of the Gulf a little and this gave us the opportunity to visit a few places without having to pack and move on to a new place each day.BOARDING:Prior to arriving in Dubai we checked in and got our ‘Set Sail’ pass and booked a boarding time. I’m not sure why we bothered a...Read More

I have written a review about the hotel but it was getting too long so thought I'd put the restaurant in as a separate review.there were other restaurants within the resort complex, mainly in the main hotel but we ate in the restaurant near the golf Village as it was convenient. our breakfasts were included in our booking but we ate in the restaurant on two nights too.Breakfast:Breakfast was included in our room rate and very nice it was too. The dining room was beside the pool and you could choose to eat beside the pool outside or in the room. As it was quite cool early in the morning we ate inside on the first morning. There was a buffet breakfast with quite a dec...Read More

Hotel | "Great for golf but not for sightseeing"

Quote:
Planning:When we booked our cruise through a company called Iglu Cruises they offered us three nights before the cruise for an amazing 100 pounds each so we accepted and began planning what we wanted to do in Dubai. However we soon discovered that this resort is in the UAE but three emirates away from Dubai, about 85 kilometers away or 1.5 hours drive or a 300 dirham taxi ride. This somewhat scuppered our plans. We looked on the website and we were informed that there was a free hotel shuttle into Dubai and so we thought that maybe all was not lost but as we had booked and paid for the holiday we were stuck with what we had.Arriving:We arrived in Dubai Airport at about 7.00 am ...Read More
