Whether your time in New Orleans' French Quarter is during the daytime or after nightfall, there is plenty to see and do. During our weekend getaway, we enjoyed spending time out and about taking in the vibe of the city. Our timeshare resort was on the western edge of the Quarter, a block from Canal St. on Chartres. This was a nice starting point, day or night, to go exploring the area. Chartres is a nice mix of shops and restaurants, along with a few living quarters and some closed or for sale buildings.During our weekend, we enjoyed dining at Daisy Dukes (100 block); Cafe Fleur-de-Lis (200 block) and The Original Pierre Maspero's (400 block). Further up the street in the 6...Read More

Just a block from our timeshare resort, this little cafe was a nice find on Restaurant.com providing great food in a nice friendly atmosphere. Owned by the same "group" as Pierre Maspero's (our dinner choice the night before), we were not disappointed in the experience here.It is very small inside, probably only 10 or 12 tables so when you enter you should have one person take a table (if available) while the other person goes up to the counter to place your orders. After you order and pay, they give you a number and will bring your food to you.David had the country Cajun omelet while I kept it simple with eggs and sausage. Both were served with choice of grits or hash brown...Read More

. . . wished we hadn't!This was a destined failure from the start, dating back more than two weeks before our trip to New Orleans. I tried to make reservations for their Friday evening show after what I had planned would be our Friday night dinner here. Refusing to pay Ticket Master service fees for a relatively inexpensive show prices, I had hoped to buy tickets the day of the show but it didn't work out that way.On the Sunday of our time in New Orleans, I tried to call in a dinner reservation but couldn't get through their phone system to a live body. It seemed every option ended up in voice mail including their "press 2 for reservations" choice. Oh well.Bec...Read More

The Original Pierre Maspero's is part of a family of restaurants located in New Orleans' French Quarter. We learned of them through Restaurant.com but once in town, we saw advertising throughout the city on this and the others in their group. The location is one of significance in local history as this was where the slave exhange was held back in the 18th century. Serving as a coffee house back in the day, today it is a very nice dining location for those staying in the French Quarter wanting local cuisine without having to go deeper into the city. For us, it was a very convenient three block walk, after which a stroll up to Bourbon Street was a nice way to digest supper.Davi...Read More

When planning for this trip, finding decent accommodations at a good price was paramount. Given that we do much of our vacationing through timeshare ownership, checking to see what might be available on the various timeshare networks was my first choice. We were fortunate to find the Quarter House available through Dial-an-Exchange (DAElive.com). The one bedroom timeshare condo was just $129 for a WEEK! Even though our stay would only be for three nights, this was a steal. I don't think we could have found a Days Inn or Super 8 for much under $75 or $80/night.The Quarter House has a good reputation within the timeshare community, so I felt confident in booking here. I will say that t...Read More
