We stayed a week here as a timeshare exchange. The unit had just been remodeled. We had the studio and it was fine for the two of us. The bed was a Murphy bed and very comfortable. The small kitchen was well equipped for cooking if we chose to do so. The bathroom was spacious with updated fixtures. We looked onto Orange Avenue and the Del, but there was no noise. Obviously it was well soundproofed. We utilized the offer to use Loew's Coronado Resort's facilities by going there to do some kayaking. We are not used to all the security aspects of a city, so the passcards for the garage and parking at Loew's was new for us. We had heard that this area was developing into an interesting destination. We went on a Saturday morning and found that we need not spend much money to experience Italy. Walking down the street, we heard Italian men speaking Italian while they sat outside on the sidewalk by a cafe'. A Farmer's Market is held every Saturday and people come out from all over the city. There is a fine selection of produce and food.

Stop by Filippi's Market. Not only do they have an excellent deli, there is a restaurant in the back. We did not eat there, but we hear it is the best.

Cabrillo National Monument & Point Loma Lighthouse

This is the place to go for stunning views of the Pacific and the city of San Diego. If you are a military person which we are not, you will love seeing battleships and aircraft in training from the Baval Base on Coronado island. The lighthouse is tiny but has been restored to an authentic interior. It is no longer a working lighthouse but the mechanisms are on view. When we were there on a school day morning, there were a few school groups on tour. Otherwise, it is a quiet place.
