Latta Plantation is truly a beautiful plantation home in the Lake Norman area. While it is a beautiful place anytime of year, during the holiday season it is even more beautiful. In 1799 James Latta purchased 100 acres of land from Moses Hayes. The following year he had a Federal Style house built for him and his family. By 1817 he owned more than 700 acres and his plantation were producing cotton. He did own slaves and went from 2 when the home was built to 23 adults and 11 children.
