Slovakia is small country in the hearth of Europe. Today it starts to be more and more interesting for foreigners who want to explore post comunist countries and life in the Eastern Europe. And that's the reason why more and more tourists come to visit Bratislava and its beauties.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

walking, public transportation
It is student dormitory center in Bratislava. Over 10.000 students live here so you can find many facilities here. If you are VERY LOW budget traveller you can ask someone in a pub for place to sleep. There will be always someone who'll help you. And the price is only a nice smile and maybe a few beers. Still this is only for those who do not mind this crazy style of living...

Student Dormitory in Mlynska Dolina
Stare Grunty 36 Bratislava, Slovakia

This is a regular Youth Hostel in Bratislava. It is the place where the main part of low budget travellers stay when in Bratislava. The price in the summer 2000 is 130 SKK (which is something like $3 US.) During the school year it serves as a student dormitory, still, the rooms are clean and safe. It's reasonable accomodation for travellers in Bratislava.

Hysteria PubBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Hysteria Pub is a little bit off the beaten paths in Bratislava, still it is worth a visit. It has very good atmosphere and the food in Hysterka (as it is called by locals) is fine. They serve Mexican food (many kinds of tacos, tortillas and many other specialities0. They even have very good beer for reasonable prices.

Bratislava ZOOBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

The question is 'What is it like?' Answer: It's like other zoos. It's not really a huge zoo, still it's nice. I am not an expert on zoos and I am also not able to find out if it's good for animals to live in this zoo park, still I liked all visits there. I think it's a good option for spending free time during the weekends.

When you are tired of Bratislava city, you can visit the great wooded park situated to the north of Bratislava. On the top of the hill, which can be seen from the city, there's a TV tower called Kamzik. This is really one of the best places to relax when you want to calm down.

Zelezna StudnickaBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Zelezna Studnicka is a popular starting point for biking routes in the northern part of Bratislava. Everyone can find their own route for themselves. You'll need a mountain or trekking bike for all the roads, because there are many hills and the roads run through nice forest. It's worth it to visit, especially in the morning or in the evening in the spring. It's also a popular place for starting your walks around Bratislava. And maybe you'll meet me there once.

Bratislava castle
Bratislava castle is one of the highlights of the capital of Slovakia. You cannot miss it! It has four towers, so it seems like a table with legs in the air. It's a place where there are representational rooms of the Slovak government, and you can visit them. The parks around it are open during the day till 8 o'clock p.m. And I can't forget! It has quite a nice view of the city.
