Delayed at SFO and want somewhere to go? Or just want to explore more of the Bay Area ? Burlingame is a great neighborhood to relax or hang out for a few hours.

Walking around the downtown area which includes boutique and chain stores, enjoying the sunshine that San Francisco doesn't always get, eating at a casual cafe.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

You'll need to use a car/cab/CalTrain to get to Burlingame, but once you are there, it's easy to walk around town.
Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe is great for getting yummy breakfast treats (people wait in long lines on the weekends), efficient for those snagging something to eat in a hurry (healthy "fast-food"), and desirable for those of us who are seeking a casual cafe where you can nibble on a sandwich and take your time reading the paper without being bothered. There is also a fair assortment of items to consume, from muffins to soup to fresh fruit smoothies to Double Rainbow Ice Cream.

The Dutch bakery items are as tasty as they look - they offer a great variety of cookies, breads, muffins, pies. While the cafe menu is not anything extraordinary, as long as your tastes are simple, you'll be satisfied with the Caesar, Chinese chicken, chef's salad, quiches, turkey pie, cold and hot "Danish-style" (although I didn't notice anything particular about that!) sandwiches.

My turkey salad sandwich was good (the Dutch Crunch bread was the best!), but I liked my chef's Salad, on another occasion, even better. Very fresh greens, served with ample tomatoes, turkey/ham meat, cheese, pickled cucumbers, egg, sprouts, oh my! I felt so healthy eating it with the non-fat sourcream dill salad dressing!

They offer semi-service - go up to the counter to order, they'll bring the food to you.

My girlfriends and I love going to Afternoon Tea and consuming sinful scones, tea sandwiches, and cookies and washing it down with a flavorful tea. At LTT, you’ll experience an Authentic English Tea, from the cozy, cottage location to the Devonshire cream, you certainly won’t feel like you’re in California. It is a wonderful place to relax and catch up with friends in a homey atmosphere and over a nicely paced Tea.

Afternoon Tea may sound like a light snack, but it is far from that! Really, with all this food going on, Afternoon Tea will probably take care of your caloric intake needs for one to two days. LTT offers seven different Tea Menus, each with an royal sounding name, i.e. "The Duchess’ Delight", and "My Lady’s Respite". There’s even a special menu for the little ones, called "The Court Jester’s Surprise." Each typically includes a pot of tea, scone w/Devonshire cream, some sort of sandwiches or salad or souffle, and dessert, such as a Lemon Tart, Chocolate Cake, or Tiramisu. Even before ordering, each table has a ceramic jar of delectable ginger cookies for one to munch on. I often have a hard time limiting myself to 10 (and they aren’t miniature-sized).
