St. Basil's Cathedral (Sobor Vasiliia Blazhennogo)

I'd seen lots of photos, but seeing St Basil's in real life was even better. The church is smaller than I thought, and poised at the end of Red Square it creates a commanding view.
We paid to visit inside and was surprised how small the four churches inside are. While
the inside was interesting, if you are pushed for time, then don't bother.

Red Square (Krasnaia Ploshchad')

I recommend starting with Red Square because you will have morning sun on the front of St. Basil's. If you go in the afternoon, you will need to take your picture in an ugly parking lot on the other side :-). From here are several museums, Lenin's tomb, and GUM. It's not far to the tourism entrance for the Kremlin or on another side, the diamond fund, which could be your second and third stops for the day. Yes, it's a powerful, impressive and beautiful place today. If you truly want to appreciate this place, take a moment to appreciate how far Russia has progressed. Take a moment to understand the violence and sorrow that many generations felt here. A guide is highly recommended.

Attraction | "Moscow metro - simply an experience!"

Moscow metro network is definitely one of the biggest ones in the world. It is very efficient way to commute around the city, especially that the traffic jams are huge and if you get stuck you might be stuck for several hours.

Beware of rush hours in the mornings and in the afternoons - the passages and escalators might get very packed! And beware of door closing signals - they won't wait for you! As the trains come every 2 minutes or so they depart quite rapidly. So if you didn't make it in or out, better don't risk getting squeezed between the doors.

Cafe Pushkin

Restaurant | "Expensive but worth it!"

Cafe Pushkin looks old but isnt -apparently! The food was great, although my Beef Stroganof could have been hotter, be prepared to pay top dollar for the experience but come highly reccomended. The ambiance is cute, and the service very good. Every wait staff was a professional. This is a perfect place for a business meal or a date.

The hotel is one of Stalin's Seven Sisters, so in fact you're staying in a national monument, and a lot depends on how you feel about huge staircases, plenty of marbles and gold, dragon statues etc. Personally, I loved it :-) Service is flawless, breakfast abundant
