We wanted to introduce our two and a half year-old son to SeaWorld and Shamu. The visit was his first time being up close with the larger marine mammals. At home, we've already taken him to all of the local spots (California Academy of Sciences, Aquarium of the Bay and the Monterey Bay Aquarium), and we wanted to venture further out.We went to SeaWorld for two days. Our first day there (Wednesday), the weather started off overcast, but the sun broke through later in the day. Hardly anyone was at the park that day and we were able to breeze through many of the shows and exhibits on the "left" side of the map. On that day, we saw the Blue Horizons show and the Shamu Show: Believe. We ...Read More

California State of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

Attraction | ""History" channel up close and personal!"

Quote:
If you have a few hours to kill, then take a step back into California history at the Old Town of San Diego! Getting to Old Town is easy by car, parking similarly easy, and then take a stroll back in time. Most everything is FREE to see in Old Town; though there are the usual knick-knack tourist stores, there are a few buildings that give you replicas of what life was back in the day of Missions and the El Camino Real. Afterwards, have lunch at any of the restaurants on San Diego Avenue and dessert at Cold Stone.

Bahia Resort Hotel

Hotel | "Nice, enjoyable stay..."

Staying at the Bahia Resort was a good start for our vacation. Watching the resort's two resident seals really set the tone for our visit to SeaWorld. We really enjoyed our stay there. The location was really close to SeaWorld (five minute drive), was within walking distance to Belmont Park, and access to the major freeways was very convenient. The hotel was right next to the beach and our room overlooked the tranquil and relaxing marina. There was ample FREE parking and complimentary internet access in the rooms. Our room had a refrigerator which was a huge plus storing our son's food. The hotel had a pool, fitness center and game room - unfortunately, we were always so tired after exploring S...Read More

Pho Time

Restaurant | "Hits the spot when you're tired and hungry!"

Quote:
Had a hankering for pho for dinner, and good thing this popped up on Yelp! As out-of-towners staying in Mission Bay (San Diego), the location was very easy to get to from our hotel. It's located in a strip mall which definitely made parking easy. The pho was authentic (though a little more bean sprouts would have been nice) and the broth was TASTY! My young son loves pho and he enjoyed Pho Time's pho. Service was fast and efficient and the price very reasonable and inexpensive.

The Alamo Mexican Restaurant Old Town

Restaurant | "Old Town (San Diego) eats"

Quote:
After landing at the airport, we ran over to Old Town to have a quick bite at The Alamo. The combo plates that we had (baja fish taco/chicken enchilada and the carne asada plate) definitely hit the spot! The prices were very reasonable, and the food came out quickly. The outdoor seating gave us (especially my son) a great view of the street and the cars driving by. We were able to enjoy Old Town afterwards on a full stomach!
