Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens

Attraction | "Don't Leave Without Seeing This"

Quote:
This Botanical Garden is simply stunning. Everyone should see it. Supported by the local horticulture school, it has such diversity in plant-life. The vegetable and herb gardens are delightful.

Quite simply amazing! We had people in our party from the age of 3 to 82 and everyone was entranced by these creatures and this place.

Puddicombe Estate Farms & Winery

Attraction | "Not at All Worth the Drive"

Quote:
We drove a great distance to this attraction on the recommendation of the Frommer's guide to the region. It was awful! There was nobody there and the small number of staff who were working acted as though we had 'caught them off guard'. They were not at all welcoming and seemed to be annoyed that we had taken them away from their work (whatever that might have been). All we saw was an attraction that probably peaked in the 1980's and could probably close any day. The advertised train and petting zoo were nowhere to be seen. There was nothing remotely kid friendly with the exception of a 1980's era Thomas the Train set placed in the dining room. Sure, our 3 year old enjoyed playing with tha...Read More

Stratus

Attraction | "Perfect!"

Quote:
This winery is one of the only LEED certified wineries in the world. It is the very definition of cool and sophisticated. It's also one of the warmest and friendliest wineries I've visited. We were greeted by everyone and made to feel very much at home. This is a beautiful property that produces very good wines. Their Red Icewine is one of the best we tasted in the entire region!

Watermark Restaurant

Restaurant | "The View is Not Enough"

Quote:
The view from the top of the Hilton Hotel is spectacular! Unfortunately, Watermark's food just doesn't measure up to the prices they charge. It was terribly disappointing to find that this generally well-reviewed restaurant seems to rely on its location to bring people in the door. The food looked fairly interesting, but there were many things missing. Crab cakes tasted of cheap cooking oil. The food didn't look particularly fresh. It looked as though it might have been sitting under a heat lamp too long. The Pickerel dish ($44.00) just fell flat. It was soggy and had very little seasoning. The two Tiger Prawns resting atop the dish were not grilled as the menu suggested. The entire dish r...Read More

This hotel was very nice overall. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the hotel itself is gorgeous. The prairie style decor is exceptional and something that you don't see in many hotels. Too bad it didn't extend to the rooms. That said, the rooms were actually nice. Good beds, they were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are unusually small and there is no sink at the mini bar, which seemed odd. The pool is very nice and contains salt water. It was well-kept and in a gorgeous space below the spa. Dining was sub-par overall. The breakfast buffet was very nice and well stocked. Everything was fresh and there were plenty of healthy options in addition to standard ...Read More

Rainforest Cafe

Restaurant | "Rainforest Cafe Has Jumped the Shark"

Quote:
I think this place has seen its best days. We went there a few years ago and enjoyed the experience. However, on our most recent trip, even the kids seemed tired of it. The food was almost awful and the prices were outrageous. You can only rely on animatronic gorillas for so long.
