Fish Massage

Attraction | "Not your Average Massage"

Quote:
The Banglampu district is where most of the sites are and Khao San Road with in it, is the most popular place location for cheap lodging, partying, and outdoor markets open well into the night. This is also where a few fish massage places have open. Okay, I must admit I have a need to try different kinds of massages everywhere for my own personal comparisons. I've had massages from Costa Rica to Cambodia from foot reflexology to seeing hand massages and this seemed a radical departure from those traditions. I chose the one on Khao San Road for a number of reasons. For one thing, it was across the street from my accommodations and it was a little cheaper than the other places, but even...Read More

MK Restaurant/MK Suki

Restaurant | "Your Way, Great Food for All Tastes!"

MK Restaurant/MK Suki Photo, Bangkok, Thailand
Quote:
MK Restaurant is a Japanese restaurant chain that is very popular in Thailand. It was truly a unique dining experience for me. It is known for its "make your own soup" meals. In the center of the table is a large partially submerged boiling pot of water. From the menu you order a basic plate of items. We picked the vegetables and mushrooms for 179B. The plate came with cabbage, bean sprouts, shitake, black and white mushrooms and celery greens. To this we added fried tofu, fresh fish slices, fish balls and some incredibly good tasting Japanese green noodles. We put in about half of everything which was plenty for the two of us and it was ready within minutes. We added some of the seasonings t...Read More

Ko Kret Island

Attraction | "No Noise, No Cars...in Bangkok?"

Play with animals Photo, Bangkok, Thailand
Quote:
Ko Kret is a man made island in the middle of the Chao Praya River created in 1722. It stemmed from a short cut canal being dredged which eventually created the island. The inhabitants are mainly from the Mon tribe who are well know for there pottery. If you talk to a local, you will learn that the pottery you are buying in many touristy places came from here. Not only did we look at the pottery here and buy some, but we watched as it was being made.A line of people sat at pottery wheels where they had lids or bowls lined up to be carved with small instruments. The designs were often dotted lines with carved out leaves. The bowls included a lid and were used for buring incense and ca...Read More

Attraction | "Unimaginable Torture!"

Corrections Museum Photo, Bangkok, Thailand
Quote:
The Corrections Museum is comprised of four original prison buildings dating back to the Ayutthaya period when torture and punishment pre-dated the idea of rehabilitation. After nearly 100 years, overcrowding created the need for relocation in 1990 of the prison and prisoners. On the second floor in building one, mannequins display execution by being beheaded by sword and in another by shooting. Of interest was that in the former the executioner was face to face with his blindfolded prisoner and in the other a screen was placed a foot away from the prisoner's backside so the executioner could not see the back pf the person to which he was shooting. Photos on the wall showed doc...Read More

Attraction | "NOT for the Weak! Beware of Review Too!"

Quote:
First, let me say, if you are not a vegetarian you may become one. Second, if you are, you still may want to cook your vegetables to death. Third, if watching Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) seemed like a glamorous, fun occupation, you might reconsider. Forth, remind yourself this is a medical museum. In essence, this museum is not for the faint of heart or most women. Photography is not allowed, although I don't know the reasons. However, I could easily see how photography of these graphic displays could really fuel the minds of some perverts. Now that you've been warned, the first room is about parasites. Different parasites are displayed microscopically damaging various organs. A short ...Read More
