We recently got back from a short trip to the Big Apple. We went up to see a show, and ended up just making a long weekend out of it. Luckily, we were able to do one of our most favorite things in the city -- trying out lots of great foodie places. The first main meal we had there was lunch. We happened to be shopping in SoHo, and although I had several places dog-earred beforehand to try, this was in a neighborhood where I didn't have any recommendations. So we quickly pulled out the smart phone, googled for natural / veggie-friendly restaurants in our close radius, and after checking several reviews, decided that the Spring Street Natural Restaurant sounded perfect. zeytinFor dinner during our first night of a quick weekend trip to NYC, we headed for Zeytin. I'd read wonderful reviews about this restaurant beforehand so I'd marked in our our 'to-do' list, and am so glad we tried it out.Located on Columbus Ave in the Upper West Side, Zeytin is a lovely Turkish / Mediterranean restaurant offering lovely fresh and tasty dishes for very reasonable prices. I was already in the perfect mood for fresh Mediterranean food anyway, and by the time we arrived after a long walk through Central Park to the west side, I was even more ready to eat!We were immediately greeted by the hostess and given the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The main reason we headed up to NYC for this long weekend, was to see a concert by one of our favorite musicians. The show was held at the venue, Terminal 5 which is in the Hell's Kitchen area of Midtown West. By the time it ended around 10:30pm, there was a mass exodus of over 3,000 concert goers flooding the streets around the area. We were extremely hungry, but a little dressed up and ready for a nice dinner somewhere close. We'd decided that we felt like Italian food, craving something with truffles to be exact, and so we turned to our trusty smartphone. Pin-pointing us on the GPS, we looked up Italian restaurants within a small radius, and read a few reviews. We ended up finding three...Read More

On our last day in NYC after a weekend trip, the spring weather had turned quite chilly, and after visiting Coney Island earlier in the day, we needed some food to warm us up. We couldn't think of a better cuisine than an asian noodle bar. So after researching some places in the city, we decided on Noodle Bar.Although there are two locations (one in West Village and one in the Lower East Side), we chose the one on Orchard Street (LES) and were very happy with our choice. Located on a corner, and quite unassuming with the minimalist red signage, we were happy to find that there wasn't a wait, and we were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly, and recommended several great dishes ...Read More

On a afternoon errand running to Bloomingdales on the southeast end of the park we looked for a nice little cafe for lunch. By locating where we were on the GPS we looked for recommendations in the area. After reading some reviews on the nearby Sunberry's Cafe, we decided it would be a good place to try.Described as "Euro Food Bar", this little cafe on East 60th Street was a great place for a quick, yet healthful, lunch. A popular place for office take-out, this well-stocked cafe has a big selection of daily specials with their hot and cold bar, salad bar, custom sandwich and wrap area, daily soups, plenty of homemade pastries, and a large selection of beverages including full coffee, juic...Read More
