After our amazing tour of the Grand Canyon, Pam and I check into our hotel room. We are staying at the Maswick Lodge which is located within the park. It offers a great place to stay while explore this natural wonder. Our room has 2 queen beds and very rustic feeling. I love the very cute cowboy lamps in the room. Just the standard hotel with chair, table, a mini fridge, armoire with drawers and TV, and standard bathroom. I love the soap in here. It is in a biodegradable box and the soap has a hole in it. You can even buy some at the gift shops. We are on the bottom floor right across from the vending machine. Talk about convenient. They have 2 restaurants and a very nice lodge...Read More

After a fun day of exploring Sedona with the Pink Jeep Tours, we were on our way to Williams to spend the night before heading out to the Grand Canyon the next day. We would also stay at the hotel again on our return for our last night before our trip ended. The current hotel was built in 1995 to resemble the first hotel that was part of the railroad, the Fray Marcos Hotel. The original hotel is still on he grounds and is now used for the restaurant and administrative offices. The Fray Marco was built in 1908 with 22 rooms. The original hotel’s dining room was serviced by the renowned "Harvey Girl’s". The Harvey Girls were recruited from all over the country to travel and work in his...Read More

On our second night we stayed at the hip and swanky Hotel Valley Ho. When I first received my information package from the hotel, I had visions of 1950’s tacky. But when we arrived at the hotel, boy was I surprised. The hotel has been catering to the hip and swanky since 1956. The hotel blends the local southwest influence infused with modern chic. In 2004, Westroc Hotels & Resorts took over the resort and the building underwent an $80 million refurbishment. The hotel sits on 7 acres in the fashionable Scottsdale downtown area. The hotel is tastefully decorated with modern and retro 1950’s furnishings and accessories. The Tower houses lavish one and two bedroom suites. ...Read More

On the first night of my "work" part of travel agent trip, I stayed at the beautiful Best Western Sundial Inn. My limo driver kept trying to tell me I had the wrong address for the Sundial Inn Resort and then tried dropping me off at the W Scottsdale. I assured him, I was a travel agent and knew the difference between a W and a Best Western. As I am arguing with him that no I am not at the W, I spy the Best Western. This very new boutique hotel is amongst the chains growing list of trendy boutique hotels. This hotel is quite eye catching and inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. I check into my home for the night and then to my room where my roommate for the trip, Pam from the ...Read More

I was arriving 2 days ahead of my scheduled travel agent FAM in order to enjoy the incredible city of Phoenix. When I first booked my trip I checked the rates and they were way above my room paying rate. Since it has a connection to Frank Lloyd Wright, I inquire if I might do a site inspection, and they are quite receptive. Later though, I receive one of my trade magazines and there is information that the Arizona Biltmore had travel agent rate of $80 a night to celebrate their 80th anniversary. One phone call later and I am keeping up my high falutin’ lifestyle on a low falutin’ budget. In business since February 23, 1929, it is one of the reigning Historical Hotels of America. The h...Read More
