It was the last day of the conference. The closing ceremonies were just a few hours away. We had to check out of the hotel. Our flight to LA was at the end of the day.In short, it was a frantic day. Hilton's hotel lobby was bustling with participants checking out and doing last minute meetings. And there we were, famished, and needed a quick lunch. The most convenient was to grab a bite across the street. Little did I know that it would be the best lunch I'll have during my entire stay in San Francisco. We ordered our food. They were extremely cheap, in my own point of view. While waiting for our lunch. We took snapshots of the seductive ambiance of the re...Read More

Attraction | "Chocolatey Night"

It was a cold night in San Francisco. Although summer was just around the corner, the chilly breeze at the wharf was enough to freeze someone, like me, who has been living in the tropics all her life. But my friends assured me that there was a good way to ward off the freezing cold (to my standards, it was already "freezing").So, off we went to Ghirardelli Square where I saw with my two eyes how they processed chocolates. It was amazing. And when my hot chocolate arrived and sipped the froth and the delectable drink, I instantly forgot about the cold. The square also provided a breathtaking view of the bay. Even in the dark, the city lights sparkled through the horizo...Read More

Stepping into Farmbrown, I didn't expect myself to be in the midst of a bustling and nice restaurant.

There was a bar where many diners were huddled. Families were seated in long tables near the windows. Couples could be found in a dimly lit corner.

We found our table and were given a view of a classic movie that was projected on a wall. The ambiance was homey and culturally interesting.

The food was the best I had in San Francisco. The steak was delectable and suited my spice-loving Asian palette. It wasn't too expensive either and I'd say that it was one of the nicest restaurants I visited in my short stay in the US.

Hotel | "Right at the heart of San Francisco"

Because of our conference, we were billeted at Hilton San Francisco, which could hold a large number of participants. It has enough function rooms for the separate meetings. Most importantly, it was a good walking distance from the conference venue, which was Moscone West.Being a first-timer in San Francisco, I believe Hilton San Francisco was the best place for me where I could gaze at the beautiful city scape from my hotel office. Everything was just a block or two away -- Macy's, restaurants, the train station, and the cable car.Since I arrived alone in this big city. It was very helpful that I could just take the subway and walk towards Hilton.Rooms in Hilton we...Read More

It was my first time in San Francisco. In fact, it was my first time in the US. On a bigger scale, it was my first time across the Pacific.I went to the US to attend the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service. It was a big shot event opened by no less than First Lady Michelle Obama. So, there I was in San Francisco, coming all the way from the Philippines on my own although joined at the conference by our board members. We all just met up at Moscone West, the conference venue.Through its narrow streets and uphill neighborhoods, the peninsula of San Francisco offers so many interesting tourist spots. Riding the cable car was quite an experience. Seeing with my ow...Read More
