Mopti is one of Mali's travel junctions. Mopti is where the Bani and Niger rivers come together, making it possible to go to Djenne or Timbuctu by boat. Roads lead to Dogon Country, Djenne, Bamako and Gao. In Mopti there are not many sites to see. But the busy harbour is nice to see. In the streets near the harbour are some little shops.Quick Tips: -Make a boattour through the harbour. -Take a walk along the Niger and see people wash their cars and laundry in the river. -Visit the market behind the great mosque. Best Way To Get Around: Mopti is not large.. so the best way to get around is to walk. If you plan to visit some villages along the river ofcourse the boa...Read More

Kanaga is the most expensive hotel in Mopti. By staying here you will not experience real Malien life.
But it does have one of the few swimming pools in Mali. And in the hot sahara sun it is very relaxed to have a cool bath. Remember that once you have left Mopti to go east or to Dogoncountry there is little luxury left, so this might be your last chance=)
The hotel also has a good but expensive restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and have a shower, toilet and airconditioning. Prices for a single room are 23600 CFA, a double room is 28000 CFA.
The hotel is about 1 km from the citycentre near the hospital along the river boulevard.

Hotel Sevaré is in the city of Sevaré only about 10 minutes by car from Mopti. It is located along the main road from Bamako to Gao and thus a good place to spend the night when you are travelling on this route.
Hotel Sevaré is a comfortable, clean hotel. In the centre of the hotel is a large, very nice patio where you can relax after a day of hard travel. The prices range from 12000 CFA for a single room to 16000 for a double room. Breakfast is included.
Hotel Sevaré has a very good restaurant. The menu is about 3500 CFA.

Bar Le Bozo

Restaurant | "Bar Bozo"

Bar Bozo is probably the best know bar in Mopti; all travelguides write about it. The bar is located on the corner of the harbour and the river. From the bar you've got a good view over the harbour and the river. And for the ladies: the river near Bar Bozo is the bathing spot for the Mopti man.

Unfortunately when i visited the bar there was a shortage of everything. No fish, no meat, no beer... Only thing available was Fanta. So I ordered a Fanta and decided to have a meal at another place. But i was told by other visitors that (if available) the meals at Bar Bozo are very good.

Hombori

Attraction

Halfway the road from Mopti to Gao is Hombori. A small town on the edge of a tablemountain. Along the road is the new part of town. Basicly it is a busy market place.

Above the new town, about 20 minutes walking uphill, is the old and more interesting part of town. Old Hombori is a maze of tiny streets with small (very small) stone houses on both sides. And always there is the huge rock behind it.

The best thing about Hombori are the many roch formations. One of them is the Main de Fatima (Hand of Fastima). A huge handshaped rockformation about 15 km west of Hombori. It takes about 1,5 hours to climb the rock. From there you'll have a great view.
