Tsunami

Restaurant | "Not a Quiet Restaurant"

When we decided to eat Japanese at this restaurant, we were ready for a nice relaxing evening after a long day of walking around. We unfortunately did not relax much as the restaurant was more of a night club than restaurant. Nobody was dancing, but the music was so loud in the restaurant we might as well have been. The waitress had to ask us 3 times for our drink order because she couldn't hear us. I asked her if the music was always that loud and she said on Friday and Saturday nights, yes. We almost walked out before we even ordered, but were so tired and ready to eat that we decided to suck it up and stay. The food was delic...Read More

Sandlapper Water Tours

Attraction | "Nice Romantic Activity"

Sandlapper Water Tours Photo, Charleston, South Carolina

This company does many different types of tours, but by the time we made it to the Maritime Center the only tour they had left was the Ghost Tour. We were a little reluctant, but decided to just go ahead and do it. We were kinda worried it would be kind of cheesy since it was about ghosts but it ended up being a very beautiful ride around the Harbor. Yes the tour guide shared legends about ghosts, but tied it wonderfully with stories about the history of Charleston. The sunset over the water, dolphins, and water was just breathtaking. No matter what tour you end up doing, I suggest one at around sunset. It's definitely a sight to see!!Our tour was about $23 a ...Read More

Pineapple Fountain at Waterfront Park

Attraction | "Beautiful Fountain!"

We, of course, had to check out the Pineapple Fountain at Waterfront Park. Like I stated in a previous review, we parked at a nearby deck and walked to Waterfront Park.

There were a few kids swimming in the fountain, we decided to just wade in the water :)

There is also a nice pier nearby. It's really a wonderful site to see!

Rainbow Row

Attraction | "Beautiful Site"

Quote:
We checked out the famous Rainbow Row. Beautiful old houses. You should definitely check it out while you are out and about in Charleston.

Rainbow Row is at the corner of East Bay Street and Boyce's S Wharf for those of you GPS users out there.

By the way Rainbow Row is right near the Pineapple Fountain. We parked in a deck nearby and walked around the area.

If you are expecting more than old architecture this is not really your attraction to visit though haha.

Thriller Charleston

Attraction | "One of the Best Attractions in Charleston"

Thriller Charleston Photo, Charleston, South Carolina
Quote:
If you love thrill, adventure and being out on the water, this is definitely the attraction for you.We saw a pamplet for this Thriller boat ride and had to check it out. It was like riding a rollercoaster on water. Tickets were $30 a person, but worth every penny of it. The ride is an hour long and you get to see the Morris Island lighthouse. Make sure you come prepared to get wet and sunglasses in case it's really sunny and for the salt water that splashes on your face. You must check this out if you are in Charleston. You can call ahead of time to make a reservation (highly suggested) and you meet by the dock on Ashley Point Road. ...Read More

Hominy Grill

Restaurant | "Good Breakfast, but a Bit Pricey"

Hominy Grill Photo, Charleston, South Carolina

I heard great reviews about this place and we decided to check it out for breakfast during our trip. I ordered a dish which was similar to an eggs benedict only with mushroom gravy and a side of grits. My husband order your standard breakfast: eggs, sausage, and toast. We also ordered a side of bacon. The food was good, but unfortunately not good enough to compensate for the price of our meal. For both of us to eat it was about $35. Not sure how other's feel, but I don't normally spend this much on a breakfast meal. Also as a warning, parking is horrible, we drove around for about 15 minutes to find parking. We also had a bi...Read More

Kaminsky's Most Excellent Cafe

Restaurant | "Wonderful Dessert!"

Quote:
We had a big breakfast and didn't quite want a meal for lunch. We had a sweet tooth and decided to check out Kaminsky's. I had read reviews online about their wonderful desserts. My husband got a chocolate chip cookie pie ala mode. I got a bourbon pecan pie ala mode. Let me tell you, these desserts were to die for!If I knew it wouldn't go bad, I would have bought an entire pie of each to take home. You get a big piece of pie. It's really enough for two people to share one pie, but we wanted to try two different kinds of pie. Our total for two pies ala mode was around 10 dollars. You really can't beat this deal for the quality and portion...Read More

Have Nots Comedy Improv

Attraction | "A Must for Every Visitor"

Quote:
We wanted to find something to do at night and came across this improv show.

It looks kinda of sketchy and run down from the outside, but it's fine so don't be alarmed! :)

It's set in theater type seating with a stage. You can buy refreshments like soda, chips, candy, and even beer. We had such a great time!

The comedians were awesome and they used audience feedback for their different acts.

If you want something nice, clean, and fun to do at night in Charleston, you must check it out!

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Restaurant | "Best Meal of Our Trip"

We went for lunch right after our arrival to Charleston. We were excited since we love the movie Forrest Gump!We got a garlic butter shrimp appetizer which came with bread for dipping. This was hands down the best shrimp I've had in a long time. For my meal, I decided to get an appetizer combo. I wanted to get a taste of different items from the menu. Everything was delicious, but I was definitely not able to finish my meal.My husband decided on a burger. He really enjoyed his burger as well. One of our favorite things about this restaurant were the "Run Forrest Run" and "Stop Forrest Stop" signs on our table. The run sign told the server that we w...Read More

Radisson Hotel Charleston Airport

Hotel | "You'd Have Better Luck with Motel 6"

Quote:
Although this hotel was cheap, we expected great things from this hotel since it is the Radisson. Unfortunately, we learned a great lesson in you get what you pay for. The front staff was rude (including the owner). When my husband asked, "What's our room number?" The lady stated, "I don't know, look at your room key." The area surrounding the hotel is run down and in the middle of a construction zone. The hotel lobby smelled of a strong chlorine odor. Our bed had hair and dirt spots on the sheets. There were two family reunions going on, which had family members who obviously didn't have consideration for guests that were trying to sle...Read More
