Four Years in New Paltz Best of IgoUgo

Overview

Quote:
New Paltz is not a typical college town. It is a very artsy town, so the best thing to do is stroll around Main Street, popping into the galleries, shops, bookstores, cafés, and pubs.

Quick Tips:

New Paltz gets very crowded and busy over Labor Day weekend during the arts and crafts fair.

The best time to visit is in the fall, when you can go apple picking; visit the farm stands; and go horseback riding, hiking, and wine tasting.

Best Way To Get Around:

You can definitely walk around the town, but you need a car if you want to go farther.

Super 8 Best of IgoUgo

Hotel

Quote:
In my opinion, the Super 8 is the nicest hotel/motel in New Paltz. It's very clean, with good service, and it's pretty inexpensive. However, on holiday weekends, this hotel gets booked very quickly.

Paul's Kitchen Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Hoffman's Deli"

Quote:
Hoffman's Deli has great food. You have to try their amazing potato salad. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a great place to pick up lunch for a picnic at Mohonk or Miniwaska Lake.

Bacchus of New Paltz Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Backus"

Quote:
This is a great Mexican restaurant in New Paltz. Their salsa is out of this world (they need to bottle it). The food is pretty inexpensive and the service is good. If you're in the mood for Mexican food, this is definitely the place to go. They have great margaritas, too!

I have been to the Mohonk Mountain House for lunch a few times and the food has been good. However, the atmosphere is what brings me back time after time. It's fun to explore the house and the grounds. You can go hiking, explore the caverns or take a paddle boat out on the lake.

P & G's Restaurant Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "P&Gs"

Quote:
This is the best pub/restaurant in New Paltz. I spent lots of happy hours in this bar during my college years. The best way to describe this place is to say that it is like the bar in Cheers, where "everybody knows your name." It has a very casual and comfortable feel. The food is amazing, especially the French onion soup on a chilly fall day.
