This site was awesome. I found that whenever we visited Temples or places of religious significance, there was a certain peaceful and relaxed feel. It was lovely. The Big Buddha site was wonderful. The statue itself was soooo gigantic, the picture doesn't really do it justice. Just below the steps are some really nice Monks. They asked if we'd like to write a message on a tile, which we did. We donated some money and the Monk gave myself and Alex a good luck bracelet each - I haven't taken mine off since the Monk put it on my wrist.Next to The Big Buddha, just down the road in fact, we spotted some more statues of other figures. It's only fair to mention where we stayed first, because the staff here were amazing. Such friendly folk that always went out of their way to make things just how you wanted them. The manager and owner is Claudio Schibli. Unlike managers of chains, he gets involved in everything. He even spends time with people lounging out at the pool on a relaxed working day. His staff are very sweet, even if they don't all speak perfect English, they try their best. The resort itself was wonderful. We had a poolside bungalow which was built from Bamboo and decorated in a Thai Style and was very luxurious.
