The Arboretum was founded in 1935 and is located south of the University of Washington. It was designed and planted by the School and the Seattle Parks Department maintains the park areas. My fiancé and I strolled through the Washington Arboretum on a beautiful warm spring day only to be amazed at how much there was to see at the Arboretum. We started off with a picnic in the park at Duck Bay. It was a busy place for kayakers and we also saw several turtles sunning themselves on logs. To my recollection these were the first turtles I've seen in Washington State out in the wild.
