With our extended family all having to work or attend prior engagements out of town that weekend, we decided why not go off somewhere for the weekend and combine our youngest birthday and Easter.

Papa John's PizzaBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Great Pizza, Fast Delivery"

Saturday night we were back in our hotel room and feeling hungry and didn't want to go out so we called Papa John's for pizza delivery. The pizza was delicious, we've never ate Papa John's before and they had some chocolate puff pastry desserts and they were the best! I was so glad we ordered two orders of them. They had our food to our door hot and fresh in about 20 minutes.

Dumser's DairylandBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "The Best Ice Cream Ever!"

Dumser's Dairyland
We past quite a few of these diner/drive in places in Ocean City and they were all always packed. We left our hotel one night for a game of mini golf and afterward we stopped in for a ice cream treat. I was a bit surprised at the prices, kind of on the pricey side, but Oh my gosh, after that first bite of my ice cream it was worth every penny I paid. I have never had such great tasting ice cream..ever. The decor is awesome too, it reminds you of walking into a 1950's diner with the old fashioned tin ceiling tiles and the high back booths. Absolutely a must visit for a treat.

Assateague Island National ParkBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Great Place for Everyone!"

Deer
We found a brochure about Assateague Island in our hotel lobby and asked the staff if it was worth going, they all gave the place a great recommendation and advised us that our trip would be will worth it. We got into the car and drove out to the Island all the while the kids were beaming with excitement as we drove across yet another huge bridge in hopes to see some of the wild ponies that roam on the island. It wasn't one of the best days as it was sprinkling off and on and it was very windy but I sure hoped we seen something. We got to the pay booth and paid our $15 entrance fee, which gave us access to the Island for 7 days day or night. We drove around the area up and down all the little roads and finally we found a few of the ponies way out in a grassy area past the water. We walked out on the little boardwalk and explored the area for a few minutes, then returned to the car to check some other areas, as we were heading back we finally seen a pony come out of the woods, right up to our car. It showed no fear of us and just stuck its head in our car! Then he must have been itchy because he laid down and rolled around on the ground, the kids really found this amusing, I on the other hand kept telling my husband to move the car before the pony kicks it! We also walked up to the beach area of the island where there were many people camping in tents along the beach, as we later found out that beach is one of very few that you are able to camp on and build fires. We also seen that if you had a 4x4 you could purchase a pass to drive along the beach for a 12 mile ride, that sounded fun but we had a car. As we were leaving we saw some deer who also showed little fear of us. Heading back across the Bridge we decided to park in a parking area and walk to the top of the along the walking area. All in all it was a great time and was enjoyed by everyone.

Hotel | "Exotic and Fun!"

Quality Inn Oceanfront
This hotel looks like any other hotel on the outside as you drive along the highway and pull into the parking lot. There is a playground and pool out front. The lobby is small and cozy and there is a big bowl of fresh fruit available for the guests. As you walk through the short hallway you come to a set of glass doors that open and you enter and exotic paradise. You would think you have enter a jungle, trees and plants, bridges that take you over ponds of koi, an array of parrots squawking it can be described as nothing less that amazing. After you catch your breath you notice the tiki bar to your left as well as another small play area for kids and off to your right is the fenced in indoor pool and two hot tub areas and after venturing into that area you'll also find a sauna. Once you enjoy all the beauty in this area you walk up the ramp area to the elevator and complimentary coffee and tea area as well as vending machines. The first thing you'll notice about the elevator once you get in is the glass walls that allow you to view the aviary area as you glide up to your room floor. On second floor above the indoor pool you'll notice yet another area filled with toys for children to play. In the basement you'll find a game room filled with arcade games galore and pool table, a fitness center and tanning area. This hotel seems to have something for everyone! Our room was an oceanfront room, but you can opt for a aviary view room as well. The oceanfront room was stunning, it was more like a suite with a kitchen area complete with stove and dishwasher, as you make your way to the sliding glass door and walk out onto your balcony complete with a small table and chairs you get the most breath taking view of the ocean.
