Restaurant | "Authentic Italian Cuisine at it's Best"

Beppe & Gianni's Trattoria established 1998 is a real find. The authetic Italian food is first rate, we came here after reading about it as Lonely Planet's top pick restaurant in Eugene, and we weren't disappointed. The food is great; Antipasti $8-14; Insate $8-12; Primi (enough for two people) $14-20; Secondi $16-20; Bambini (for young customers) $4; Desserts $7. Their $7 Tiramisu is made on the premises and highly recommended, we also tried their flourless Chocolate Torte which wasn't really to our liking-far too dense to eat. Parking may be a problem and there may be a long wait for a table. Sunday-Thursday 5-9pm, Friday-Saturday 5-10pm; credit cards accepted, reservations recommended for a party of 8 or more, 18% service fee added for a party of 8 or more, $15 corkage fee for a 750ml bottle of wine. Attraction | "Reading is Fundamental"

Powell's Books claims to be the world's largest bookstore occupying a city block and several floors is a vibrant, living place filled with people, thriving, pulsating life, thoughts with kids and adults, a coffee room to buy some drink, eats, browse up to five titles, open daily 9am-11pm.

Restaurant | "Bleu Offers Fine-dining at a Reduced Cost"

Bleu, one of two culinary schools, this offers a sit down dining experience for a three course lunch $10.95, five course lunch $14.95, or a five course dinner $24.95. We went in early for lunch without a reservation and were able to get seated right away. It's staffed with instructors and advanced students getting a little experience serving the public before graduating. The light, white atmosphere with its hardwood floors and comfortable trendy chairs creates a warm welcome for the customers.

Its sister Bleu Cafe is open Monday-Friday 6am-5pm has food prepared by its students but doesn't offer the whole dining experience of its restaurant.

It was enjoyable chatting with our student server, getting some of his views going through the Culinary program.

Hotel | "Room Was too Small"

This older hotel has an impressive lobby, a fitness facility which we didn't see anyone use, a single, soft, comfortable, supportive bed. I slept well on this bed, my partner didn't get a good night's sleep. The room was just too small, The desk area was so small that the coffee maker and supplies were in the closet shelf. The shower in the bathroom was just so relaxing that I didn't want to do anything but lie down. The free complimentary high-speed internet, downtown location, nice quality shampoo, soap and bath gel helps make this a desirable stop. The quality of the room was very nicely done but my complaint is the room is just too small to move around much. The restaurant bar Jake's offers a Happy Hour from 10:30pm till 11:45pm with their Cheeseburger with French Fries for $1.95 with a $2.50 drink minimum is their best deal that the crowds come for.

Hotel | "Comfort Suites at this Location Lives up to its Name"

Comfort Suites is quite a nice, comfortable facility. There's a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna open from 7am-11pm, coin-operated laundry till midnight, complementary breakfast starting at 4am - but there were no eggs nor meat, only carbs when we went. The room is spacious, comfortable beds, there was no complimentary shampoo, mini-fridge and microwave, Shower-massage shower head. Clock-radio with for MP3 playback device hook-up. There is complimentary shuttle service every 30 minutes, free wi-fi and high speed internet via RJ45 jack. The hotel facility is nice but very isolated from anything else. Great place for your last night before your airport departure. Found this through SideStep
