Vacationing in St. Augustine, Florida

Overview

Quote:
Take a walk on the old cobblestone streets through downtown. There are many shops and stores as well as the oldest school house in America. There are also some great beaches which you can actually drive on, pick a spot and lay out right by your vehicle. You can also get some great surf fishing as well. If you are there around August or September, the "bluefish" are running and it's almost as good as hooking a 10 lb. largemouth bass. You'll need to watch the tide though or before you know it, you could end up watching your belongings float away.Quick Tips: Go for a ride on one of the many horse and buggys. Seafood Kitchen

Restaurant

Quote:
Seafood Kitchen is a small, quaint restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere and some of the best seafood. It is very inexpensive and you get generous portions. Meals range from $6.95 to $19.95 for a dinner for two which includes a little bit of everything from scallops to shrimp and even gator tail sometimes. Everytime I've eaten there, I've had more than enough and you can keep the extra money saved for another attraction.

St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum

Attraction | "The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum"

Quote:
The Lighthouse and Museum is a great place to visit. Some say the Lighthouse is haunted, but I unfortunately didn't get a chance to experience that. There's a great deal of history behind the lighthouse and is a must see attraction when visiting this cozy little town.

Ghost Hunt Tour

Story/Tip

Quote:
While you're in St. Augustine, be sure to check out the ghost tours. They meet every night on St. George Street (downtown) at 8:00 p.m. It's a walking tour and lasts approximately 2 hours so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. You'll be surprised at what you'll learn and maybe even see! This was the first ghost hunting tour I had ever been on and enjoyed it tremendously. You might even learn about some places you may want to go back to during the day so you can actually do some further hunting on your own. The stories told by the guide are great and quite interesting. They are also quite a history lesson as well. Just be sure to keep your eyes open and enjoy.
