Canberra CentreBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Fancy and Free in Civic Centre"

The perfect place for shopaholics! A great mix of fancy stores like David Jone to more affordable stores like Target to fill your house. You'll also find a Big W, Aldi and Supa Barn so you can also do your grocery shopping when you are done doing shopping at the stores with the fancy bags. Canberra Centre is probably the largest shoppiing mall about hosting ladies and mens and children's fashion, entertainment, household, arts and services as well as tons of restaurants in and out of the centre.

This is a busy mall and I haven't quite figured out how to carry all your shopping from one end of the mall to the next without having to stop back at your car to unload. If you have little ones, make sure you have a stroller. You can be in here for a whole day!

This is a fun, clean, new mall to wander around and spend the day. If the mall doesn't hold your interest, you can find a world of shopping, plus a carousel outside the mall.

Put your good walking shoes on and hit the ATM before you get here!

Tuggeranong HyperdomeBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Hyper Shopping in the Dome "

Tuggeranong Valley offers a variety of shopping from toy stores to Bunnings home and tool haven, but the Hyperdome can fill up any gaps in your shopping bags.

In addition to two grocery store staples - Coles and Woolworths, you'll find Target, Myer and KMart for one store shopping. However, you'll find anything from fashion for all ages and sizes, to books, entertainment, communications, health and beauty stores, as well as household and pet stores. The Hyperdome also boasts a House and Home section, which hosts several home decorating stores, those these are nothing too fancy or of super high quality.

If you are hungry you can find yourself a snack at the numerous eateries in the area. There is a food court inside the mall, and a Courtyard providing a casual seating area between the Hyperdome and House and Home Center. You will also find several restaurants and cultinary treats on Anketell Street around the Hyperdome - Asian Noodle House and Little Istanbul.

There are over 180 stores in addition to the larger stores. Shopping hours are:

Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5:30pm.
Friday, 9am to 9pm
Saturday, 9am to 5pm
Sunday, 10am to 4pm

This mall tends to feel quite crowded on the weekend, and the lines in the bigger stores are somewhat long, however, I love the HUB Asian market store wares and snacks in the ground floor next to Woolworths.

This mall offers the usual services of large malls: gift vouchers, kiddy cruiser hire, stroller hire, and parents rooms to name a few things.

You can spend a day shopping around Tuggeranong's hyperdome as well as the stores in the vicinity around the mall. This mall doesn't seem to have anything too specialized about it.

Direct Factory Outlets/DFO, Fyshwick, ACTBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Top Brands at Rock Bottom Prices"

One of the great things about this shopping center is that most of the items in here are already at sale prices from the brand store. In addition, these stores have sales on their sale prices. You'll find fashion wear, bags and shoes from name brands such as Kate Hill, Diesel, Fletcher Jones. RM Williams to name a few stores. You'll find bedding, homewares, jewellery and sporting goods stores, books, and clothing for adults and children.

There are several new additions to the center, including huge bedding and furniture stores with state of the art designs and mattresses. Also, there is a huge camping store with prices that beat almost any other store in the area, JB Hi Fi and other hi fi/stereo/audio stores. The most popular addition to the shopping center is the Monkey Mania center. This is a HUGE playground area broken up into various age groups. It is advertised as a 'shop 'n drop' for your children, but there are numerous coffee tables in front of the play equipment so parents and childcare givers can sit and watch the children play while they relax and chat over a cuppa tea.

DFO has several other cafes in the center itself, as well as a small food court. Unlike shopping centers in some cities that encourage shopping well into the evening hours, Canberra centers do not tempt shoppers all hours of the day and night. DFO is no different. This shopping center is open 7 days a week, but only from 10am to 6pm on each day.

This shopping center is clean and spacious, stroller friendly with clean bathrooms spread out throughout the mall. It is relatively relaxing to shop here. The wide aisles and clean look of the stores make it a good strolling mall as well as a fun place to go shopping.
