Ice Glen

Attraction | "Nice Hike Through the Woods, Beware of Mosquitoes"

Where: Stockbridge, MA, off US 7 on Park Road, park at the end.
What: Very nice easy hike through the woods. The gorge has some nice moss covered boulders to enjoy. We would have enjoyed this one much more had it not been for the mosquitoes. I guess end of August may not be the best time to take this one. The rating would be 4 for the trail, 1 for the mosquitoes.

Where: This should be better than a whole paragraph. If your're coming from Great Barrington on 344 (Falls Rd), don't stop at the first parking lot on the left. Continue through the left turn and park later on the left at Tactonic State Park. What: Really pleasant and easy family hike to a beautiful waterfall. If you stop ...Read More

Where: Map (the parking lot is where you need to get to) - Info
What: There's a creek through impressive chasm and a series of walkways to explore the area. We had a good time there However, the bridge itself was too short for me to even realize it was a bridge.

Coming back from the Natural Bridge or another location on Rte. 2? I come from highlands and the views around this route are magnificent! The rolling hills are something I could look at forever. And our visit was in August. Being there a month or so later to catch the fall colors would probably be an even greater experience - my plan for the next time in the Berkshires.

Bradley Farm Trail, Mt. Greylock State Park

Attraction | "Average Hike through the Woods"

Mt. Greylock State Park - Bradley Farm Trail Photo, Williamstown, Massachusetts
Quote:
Mt. Greylock area offers many trails of various difficulties. A lot of the better rated trails seem to be offshoots of other trails requiring more walking. During our visit, the road was closed to traffic past the visitor center preventing driving to higher up trail heads. Being there with two little kids we opted for the Bradley Farm Trail that starts right by the visitor center. It turned out to be an ordinary walk through the woods with no special views and definitely nothing left from the farm days. You can get a trail map as a PDF here. The ...Read More

Bridge of Flowers

Attraction | "Definitely Worth a Stop!"

Shelburne Falls, MA - Bridge of Flowers Photo, Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts
Quote:
On our drive back from the Yankee Candle Factory, we saw the Shelburne Falls sign and vagualy remembered that there was supposed to be a Bridge of Flowers. And it was and were we glad we stopped. This originally trolley bridge was transformed into a beautiful bridge full of flowers and is now maintained by volunteers - don't forget to make a donation. It's the unused bridge on ...Read More
