Coquina Baywalk at Leffis Key is directly across the street from Coquina Beach at the far south side of Anna Maria Island. This is right before the draw bridge the connects Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key. If you're heading TO Longboat Key, the Baywalk would be on your left. It's a no cost nature type experience, and there is plenty of parking. I would not recommend this for disabled people or people who can't walk very far.
This Baywalk is a boardwalk that winds through some mangroves, spider ridden trees {I know, there I go again with the spiders!} and other generally nature-y type areas. There are a few areas where you can stop and rest of take photos of Sarasota Bay. As I remember it, the Gulf is not viewable from here, only the SRQ Bay, which is very pretty on it's own!
When we went we saw crabs and dolphins and we were so lucky to see a rainbow from the very top of the hill! {See the photos!}
The top of the hill allows for 360 degree views, and even if you don't walk on the boardwalk, I highly recommend stopping by someday just to climb the hill to see the view!
I HIGHLY recommend taking and wearing bug spray, your camera, maybe some binoculars, water to drink and maybe a hat.
This would also be an excellent spot for a proposal or a wedding!
