Playing Tennis in Washington DC

Best Of IgoUgo

I live in New York and am used to paying exorbitant amounts to play tennis for a short time. Therefore every time I leave town, I try to pack my tennis gear. Washington DC did not disappoint. There seems to be several public facilities. I ended up choosing the East Potomac Tennis Center as it was the nearest to my hotel and I was able to make a reservation without a hassle. The East Potomac tennis center is beautifully situated on the Potomac river, close to many of the monuments. There is some parking available, but this facility is also conveniently located near the Smithsonian stop of the DC metro. The weather was great and in early October, there was still natural light until 645pm or ...Read More

Le Meridien Arlington

Hotel | "Stylish Hotel in a Convenient Location"

The Hotel Palomar is a stylish hotel conveniently located across the Francis Scott Key bridge from Washington D.C. I stayed here in early October 2008 and found this hotel pretty much in line with the other Kimpton properties in which I have stayed. Here's what's hot about this hotel: - 10 minute walk over the bridge into the restaurants, bars and shops of the Georgetown district - Friendly and knowledgeable staff - Near Roslyn Subway. So you really do not need a car if you are staying at this location. If you do bring a car, valet parking 18/day on the weekends and 30/day weekdays. You can also try street parking which is free between 6pm and 6am. But this may also be a h...Read More

Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant

Restaurant | "Best Ethiopian Food that I Ever Had"

My mouth waters just thinking of this place. When our hotel staff directed us to this place with the claim 'Best Ethiopian restaurant in DC', I was not sure it would live up to the hype. After all, DC is full of Ethiopian restaurants. The restaurant is huge and the cavernous nature did not exactly instill optimism about the quality of the food. But it was pretty much full. We ordered Dukem Salad as an appetizer and for the main course, my friend ordered Dukem Special Beef Tibs and I ordered the 5 Item Vegetarian Combination with Fish. The Dukem Salad was good, but the entrees where outstanding! My friend who was not exactly sold on Ethiopian food prior to this restaurant, was i...Read More

Restaurant | "Sweet Eats"

Sweet Green is a small, healthy food eatery, right in the heart of Georgetown district in DC. The menu is pretty simple. Salads or yogurt. There are chef created salads or you can make your own. I only had the yogurt. It's somewhat similar in concept to Pink Berry. I had a small plain yogurt for $4. And this comes with a choice of 3 fruit toppings. Great yogurt, fresh fruits.
