Nice is the largest resort on the Mediterranean coast. It is also in the center of the French Riviera; the area’s heart. This area is also known as The Cote d’ Azur, and Nice has the deserving title of the capital of the Cote d’ Azur.

Grand Café de Lyon
The Grand Café de Lyon was diagonally across from our hotel, the Best Western New York in Nice, France. We could see the Café from our balcony. We got the same waiter two nights in a row, who was quite kind and funny. I personally liked the Monsier Croquets, which I now make at home. We enjoyed the outdoor sidewalk dining in order to people watch. We would return to this restaurant should we find ourselves in Nice again.

Tabac de Labray
We were hungry when we arrived in Nice, so we set out to find a nice sidewalk café, out of the tourist area. Bar Tabac Le Dabray was perfect. The waitress didn’t speak much English, but she went out of her way to help; she used her French-English dictionary and I used my English-French menu reader, and we did just fine. We found a table outside, but it was unstable on the uneven sidewalk. Without asking, the waitress steadied the legs of the table with cardboard coasters. Such a friendly place, and the food was good, too.

Hotel | "Great Hotel for Some Homesick Travelers"

A modern room, a comfortable bed.
Arriving in Nice after three weeks in the Mediterranean, we were beginning to get a little homesick. Staff at the Best Western were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. A nice breakfast was included. The hotel had all the modern amenities: a lift, air conditioning, and a tv on which we caught the French version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Our room had a nice balcony, which we enjoyed. We enjoyed our stay and would return, should the opportunity arise.
