A getaway dream in the north

Overview

Quote:
Huntsville is a tree huggers paradise. There are thousands of lakes, forests and huge national parks like Algonquin for hikes and animal watching. There is tons of history here and museums that capture this town and how people lived in this rugged backdrop hundreds of years ago. The downtown of Huntsville is alive and well and shopping is an experience to remember. Quick Tips: There are 4 major seasons and reasons to travel to this north/central Ontario town. Spring does have bugs and not so recommended. Summer is fantastic and the largest attraction for visitors. Ragged Falls

Attraction

Quote:
Ragged Falls is a natural falls that flows over huge rocks. It is amazing!

Big Hint: Don't stay at the top with all the tourists, climb down the rocks and see the falls from below. Some of the rocks feel just like a chair and you can get so comfortable lying down on them the sound and the soft spray of the falls can put you to sleep. Bring a picnic and take it all in....

This is a crazy day in the middle of the summer. Usually it falls on the second Saturday in July (call the Chamber of Commerce at (705)789-4771 for exact dates each year). For pure family FREE fun, this event is it. The day starts with a crazy tub parade down mainstreet. Everyone from the town was there this year! Each tub is owned by a local business. The object? Take these tubs attach a small outboard motor to them (the tubs are made out of fibreglass) and race each other through crazy water courses right in the heart of the towns water ways. This year rumours spread that over 8,000 people watched the event.

Definitely a day to remember!
