The highlight of any trip to Ottawa is Parliament Hill. You simply cannot visit this city without visiting.

The architecture of the parliament buildings and surrounding buildings is magnificent and the views across the river excellent.

Quick Tips:

You might want to cross over into the Quebec side of Ottawa (Gatineau) and visit Gatineau Park a large provincial park with wildlife, scenic walks etc. All only a very short drive from the city centre.

Best Way To Get Around:

Ottawa is easily walkable. Public transport will take you to the outer edges of the city, but everything you will want to visit is best found on foot.

You can catch the no 3 bus outside the hotel and get dropped off right in the city centre for just $3 each way. Leave your car in the underground car park at the hotel.The hotel is modern and clean and easily located just off the highway. We visited Parliament Hill on a glorious hot and sunny spring day, so the views were magnificent. The buildings are just great with superb architecture. They are very reminiscent of the parliament buildings in the UK, but different in their own right. You can wander all round the grounds and even go inside the buildings. There are a number of statues and photo opportunities around the buildings and grounds. You should definitely go round the back of the building as his is where you will see great views across the river to the Quebec side of Ottawa (Gatineau).
