Fitzer's Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Non-impressive"

Quote:
This restaurant was pretty forgettable, having eaten at it in 2003 I remember the meal more in that it had moved when I returned in 2006. The food was reminiscent of Italian, but over priced.

Restaurant | "Two Great Options"

The very first night in Dublin we asked our concierge where we should go for dinner and were directed to Temple Bar. On the ground floor is a local pub, pub food and a nice pint. For our first night in the Ireland it felt perfect. We enjoyed to local, authentic feel along with some fish & chips.Later in the week after several unmemorable dinners we returned early in the evening and were able to get a seat upstairs for another perfectly Irish meal. Lamb stew and smoked salmon wonderful and reasonably priced. Several years later we stopped by again on a pub crawl for a pint with a local friend and it was still as enjoyable as our first visit. I recommend making a ...Read More

Pacinos Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Sit Back and Relax as the European's Do"

Quote:
Wandering the streets of Dublin we chanced into Pacinos one evening for dinner. The restaurant had a very comfortable feel, very relaxing. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine and a handmade pizza.

In typical European style (not like rushed American's) everyone, including us leisurely enjoyed our dinner.

Guinness Storehouse Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Best View of the City"

Gravity Bar Photo - Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, Ireland

Being Dublin, this was a must visit on our trip and we made sure we visited it on one of the first days in the city. The tour takes you up and around the building showing the whole process of creating the perfect pint. Sadly it is not the real plant that you are touring, just the shiny made for tourist "museum". A self guided tour, it is not inexpensive and while not my favorite brewery tour it did have several interesting things. As a designer and marketer, I loved the history of brand, the wall of notes left by other guests is cool to see how far travelers have come to see this wonderful drink. The real highlight is the end of the tour - the Gravity Bar where you can enjoy yo...Read More

Elephant and Castle Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Elephant and Castle (The)"

Quote:
It was the end of our trip around Dublin and we were about over restaurant food, but the Elephant and Castle was perfect for a quick, tasty and reasonably priced meal. Located in the temple bar area of the city it is close to Grafton Street shopping, Trinity College and the O'connell street bridge.

Burdock's Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Reason Alone to Visit Dublin"

Leo's Photo - Burdock's, Dublin, Ireland
Quote:
Never a fan of restaurants found in travel guides - this tiny fish & chips shop is an travel guide find. After walking the streets of Dublin we found this little shop with a line waiting to order their lunch. I have enjoyed the traditional order and the battered sausage as well. Both I would return to Dublin to eat again, in fact it was the first stop on my return trip to Dublin.

The only down side (ignoring the health factor) is that it is only a to go situation, but with some planning you can make it a perfect day and enjoy some people watching in one of the parks or at Dublin castle near by.

Hop On Hop Off Dublin Bus Tour Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Hop On - Hop Off"

Quote:
I am a dork - I like the city bus tours. I have done the bus tour in Dublin (twice) and the reason I like them is they are a cheap way to see the city. Even if you say you are not doing the tourist thing, you may be visiting the art museum, the parks or other places that the bus stops at. How can you complain about a ride around the city where you can get off wander around and get back on any time you want? On my second trip to Dublin I used the bus to get to go shopping at the Guinness Storehouse, then took it to Grafton Street and back to the hotel near Temple Bar.The bus visited many places that we were interested in seeing and pointed out some places that we would not have even know to...Read More
