Our trip to Myrtle Beach was an exciting and relaxing getaway for March Break. We drove from Ontario to Myrtle Beach South Carolina, only stopping for gas, food and washroom facilities. The trip takes between 16 - 19 hours depending on how long or frequent the stops are. We had reservations at Camelot by the Sea and had no problems checking in. The hotel is very large, all the rooms are facing the ocean and parking is very close to your suite or hotel room. The rooms are comfortable, neat and clean except for the carpet and sofas. Our view from the balcony overlooks the beach/ocean and we had amazing sunrises!. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed in Myrtle Beach for seven days and enjoyed the many attractions it had to offer. Broadway at the Beach is a unique place for shopping, dinning and entertainment. The Tangers outlet is also a shoppers dream. Great stores and prices, one could spend the whole day shopping there. There are several boutiques, stores and restaurants to keep one occupied in walking distance from the hotels. Another fine attraction was Brookgreen Gardens, it is an amazing place for art lovers. You can pay an entrance fee of 12.00 and visit the garden for six consecutive days. Lots to see and enjoy. There also is a beautiful cafe/restaurant. Rioz, another Brazilian restaurant is a must. It is an all you can eat for 35.00. The salad bar is amazing and it is a non-stop of a variety of meats available.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Hotel View
The Camelot is a very large hotel with all rooms facing the ocean. We saw the pictures on the internet and decided to book last minute. The price was $800.00 for 7 nights, one bedroom with 2 double beds. This was during March break. When we got to the hotel, our check in was fast and painless. We had a long drive and welcomed the speedy service. The hotel appeared to be an older hotel. The one bedroom suite was very basic. Included in the rooms are a fridge, stove, microwave and TV. Also included was a small table with four chairs, a sofa and love seat. The sofa and love seat could also use a bit of stem cleaning. There was also a small size bathroom which was clean. The room could use a fresh coat of paint and the carpet could use some steam cleaning as well. There is also a lazy river, which was a bit cold to use in March, a wading pool, a large jacuzzi/hot tub and an indoor pool. They were all located right next to the elevator on the 1st floor. The large pool is located outside the building. There are also laundry facilities. Every day the maid came in and cleaned the room and changed the towels. Every floor has their own parking and we were able to park just outside our door. The view was the best!. We could step outside our balcony and just enjoy the wonderful view. We had coffee every morning on the balcony and watch the sunrise and listen to to waves rolling in everyday. There aren't any restaurant situated in the Camelot hotel, but there are many eating places on Ocean Blvd. where one can eat for reasonable prices. We frequently went to Pappas where happy hour was from 4-7pm every day. All in all we had a great time and enjoyed our stay at the Camelot.

Rioz Brazilian SteakhouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Rioz"

RIOZ Brazilian Steakhouse is an extraordinary steakhouse without any questions. Many people say it is their best experience, but to us a little restaurant called Dunbars near Peterborough is definitely the best. Another review for another time. When one enters the Rioz it is quite beautiful, big, dark and very busy. Our reservation was for 5:30 and the place was packed already for dinner. Rioz opens up at 4:00 daily. To begin with there is a salad and seafood buffet bar and it is amazing. The best salad bar we have ever encountered. The price is $35.00 per person for the buffet and it includes the salad bar and dinner. Desert and drinks are extras. Well this was no ordinary dinner as the first course is the salad and then comes the meat when one is ready.
The head waiter/manager comes to the table, explains how the dinner will unfold. Coasters are given with Yes Please on one side and No Thank You on the other for the meat serving. The serving of the meat comes in skewers which has been bar-b-qued with wood. When the waiters see that your coaster is turned up green for yes please they are right there with the meat slicing right in front of you. There are 15 different cuts of beef, lamb, poultry and pork. The restaurant is very busy, the staff is excellent, the service is excellent. Anyone visiting Myrtle Beach should take the opportunity to experience the Rioz. Myself in particular is not a big meat person, so this type of restaurant was a bit too much food for myself. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures to post, but their website www.rioz.com has all the information

Attraction

Brookgreen Gardens
Brookgreen Gardens an amazing place to visit. The garden used to be one of the plantation in the earlier days. It is located right on Highway 17 and about half an hour away from where we were staying which was Ocean Blvd. in the south side of Myrtle Beach. It is relatively easy to find for those who are visiting and is new to the area. The first thing one notices as one enter the gardens is the peaceful setting/feeling one gets. It is truly an nature/art lover's paradise. The sculptures comes in different shapes, sizes and are very detailed. The setting of these sculptures are very naturalistic. To see the sculptures in its natural setting is quite astonishing as one will think that these sculptures belong in an art museum or art gallery. The entrance fee was $12.00 per person and one can visit the garden for six consecutive days. Unfortunately we visited the gardens on our last day and was sorry as there were soooo much to see and enjoy. We did not get to see everything and was a bit disappointed we did not found out about the gardens before our last day. There is also a cafe where we had a nice lunch and a glass of wine to finish a beautiful day. Brookgreen Gardens is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Myrtle Beach. It's a beautiful relaxing and peaceful attraction. Their website is www.brookgreen.com/
