La Antigua is only 20 minutes from Guatamala City, but 1,000 years away! The cobble stone streets require a slower pace, but that's a good thing because there is so much to see. (Please see highlights at the end for the impatient reader). Don't be fooled by the local market - what you see is only about 20% of the whole market, so keep digging. Hotels will have walking maps of the city, and you can easily spend 2 weeks alone visiting the ancient churches, monastaries, art galleries, all within 5-7 blocks of the central square.
